Self isolating

I work in retail as a cashier. Last month I was sent home sick as I had a cold and couldn't work. I then went in for a week as I felt better before a weeks holiday during this time the cold came back. My cough has got worse over the last couple of days and I'm due back to work tomorrow.

I called 111 and was told that I should self isolate for 7 days. I thought that I would only have to self isolate if I had flu like symptoms. At the moment I only have a cough that doesn't seem to be clearing up. Do I really need to self isolate, when I'm pretty sure its just a cold?

Thanks for your reply. I self isolated for 1 week and am sure it's a chest infection. Would I be more prone to catching the virus? The problem is I work in a high street supermarket so I'm worried that while Im not fully recovered from the chest infection i could possibly be a lot worse off

If it's a persistent cough assume it covid19. What does it take !?

I had this exact same cough last year and was diagnosed with a chest infection. No other symptoms

You have to isolate.
You don’t know for sure it isn’t coronavirus. It isn’t right to put others at risk.

How unwell are you still feeling? It might be worth ringing your go for a phone consultation.

I still have a cough but thats it, chest hurts a bit from the constant coughing. I know I should stay off while my immune systems low but feel really guilty for taking so much time off work

No one will want you there while you’re still coughing.
