Long term health consequences

Along with others on this board, I'm concerned at the lack of social distancing measures being implemented in the UK.

Herd immunity is a natural by-product of a pandemic, I get that.

But why are our top medical and scientific people so sure that people get it, they recover and then they're fine? This is a novel virus, I thought the whole point was we know very little about it at this stage?

Which leads me to schools. The narrative goes that children are the least affected and therefore school shouldn't close. But how do we really know that? What if there are long term health implications that are not yet known?

I'm stunned at the level of certainty displayed by the government and its advisors.
