Child temp - do we all stay home?

3year old. Very high temp 38.9-40.4
Spent 2 hours on hold to NHS 24 with no answer.
Shes asleep now, temp coming down 37.9 and I'm far less worried.
Obviously she'll need to self isolate this week. Do we all need to?
Various websites have different answers.

My worry is if my husband and I do it this week and it never was anything to do with covid and then a week or 2 down the line it keeps happening then we'd never be at work and be financially ruined.

I completely understand about people's health coming first but I can't find a clear answer. Can anyone help?

No. Only the one with symptoms needs to be isolated for seven days under current advice (and obviously someone to look after them, when it's a child). The other parent can go to work until they develop symptoms themselves.

Currently they are advising the temperature person to self isolate. Going forward it will be the whole household. I'd suggest doing the latter now as people are contagious even without symptoms.

My sons developed a cough yesterday. He will have to self isolate this week. My other child will go to school as normal (different schools) and my partner will work all week as normal too.
We can’t all self isolate just because he has a cough which will more the likely be nothing considering he is the person that is the least social and never goes out alone.

Thank you. That clears things up a bit. My understanding was in the containment phase any contact and you should isolate. Now in the delay phase only symptomatic should self isolate x

I have developed a temp and sore throat today, and the NHS guidelines have told me to self isolate for 7 days. My husband and daughter are going to work and school tomorrow, unless they start to show symptoms, then they must self isolate also.
Friend is a GP and this was her advice too, she did say the guidelines are changing almost daily though.
