Would you attend a hotel wedding with a newborn, a toddler and child in April?

Hi there,

I have a bit of a dilemma. A member of DH’s family is getting married just after Easter. We rsvp’d a while ago and all three of our children are invited. If it was just me and DH we would definitely attend but I had a baby very recently and am breastfeeding so not taking the baby is not an option. I don’t want to come across as over dramatic or rude to couple getting married or cause any friction in the family but I’d hate to expose the children to Coronavirus. If we decided not to go, I obviously want to give as much notice as possible. What do people think?

Just decide nearer the time. Impossible to know now but I'd say it was unlikely I'd go.

It's still a long way away to be making such decisions at this moment in time - I'd be taking it day by day and making a decision nearer the time. We are led to believe children are low risk for catching the virus

No but I think the situation will be different by then anyway.

Agree with PPs about making a decision nearer the time. We don't know what the situation will be in 3-4 weeks time....depending on how many guests there are the wedding may not be going ahead anyway in April.

It's less about exposing the children too - they are likely to get it - but you want to stop them passing it on to others really.

No

Vulnerable people of all generations should not be exposed to a virus right now in the absence of actual evidence to the contrary

blondie87 · 15/03/2020 19:25

I’m tempted to wait and see but I also want to give them as much notice as possible. That was my other concern @towelstripes; it definitely works both ways! Based on projections for the trajectory of the virus, the wedding falls when it will be near it’s peak so I suppose it may well be cancelled. Such a shame for the couple if it is but these are unusual times.
