To wish people would stop saying corona virus was a biological war weapon by the Chinese.

People keep posting all this “biological warfare” nonsense on facebook. What annoys me is these people who post this stuff are convinced they’re right and are informing all us dumb ones what’s really going on. Anyone else getting this?

There will always be conspiracy theories about world events, it’s been that way forever. No point getting annoyed about just ignore them

mbosnz · 15/03/2020 17:12

If that were happening on my facebook feed, I'd be having a lovely springclean of my facebook feed.

TheMarzipanDildo · 15/03/2020 17:12

People are saying that Shock

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 17:13

If it’s a biological weapon it’s quite a crap one to be honest with you.

Bflatmajorsharp · 15/03/2020 17:14

It might be best not to spread conspiracy theories by, you know, starting posts about them.

And agree re:culling of FB friends needed.

PurpleDaisies · 15/03/2020 17:15

I hadn’t heard this before you posted it.

Did you miss the coronavirus topic?

Notimeforaname · 15/03/2020 17:20

A lot of it is because of that book "The Eyes of Darkness" where the author seemingly 'predicts' a virus like this happening in the year 2020 named Wuhan 400,... In the book he says it was used as biological warfare.

People are looking for anything they can find.
As Thescrewinthetuna says, best just to ignore then.

TheTrollFairy · 15/03/2020 17:20

That was going around when it first happened in China.
I have put people who generally say shite like this on hidden anyway. Even if it was true, what’s it going to achieve now anyway? Regardless of where it came from, man made or through animals, it’s at the point where it is what it is!

CSIblonde · 15/03/2020 17:21

I don't see how a virus that kills off mostly the elderly & those with underlying health issues is effective biowarfare. The sheer cost of building new hospitals, drafting in the army, lock down leading to losing jobs & businesses like bars & restaurants going bust etc. It does seem strange the UK's response is only now going along the lines of other countries, when I watched a UK documentary 2years back saying so much had been learnt re pandemics after digging up Spanish Flu's UK victims from the 1918 pandemic, that it was a huge step in preventing future pandemics.

Notimeforaname · 15/03/2020 17:21

Them*

moondance19 · 15/03/2020 17:22

Yes I’ve decided to block them, we have enough damn anxiety as it is. It just annoys me how they think they’re educating us all just because they believe everything they read.

I had a similar conversation with a lady the other day, she said have you every known a virus to be so discriminate with who it affects and went on to ask why if it came from a meat market as china first claimed, are China now accusing America of introducing it..... i nodded along and still don't have an opinion where it came from but it did introduce a small doubt in the less rational part of my brain!

I had my neighbour shout to me today that he had heard (reclusive, sometimes aggressive alcoholic) it was SARS GM modified by an outraged Muslim working in the Chinese Portland Down released as a biological weapon Covid-19 in retaliation to the Chinese government.

Two things.

  1. I have known him a long time, I have hardly ever heard him say four words. At least two of those fuck.
  2. I only asked how his Mam was (she suffers bad mobility) nothing exciting.

It was bonkers.
