Dog walkers

I thought the rule for self isolating was to stay at home. Just had a dig walker go past saying that self isolating has saved her a bit in dog walking fees. There are loads of dog owners about and they will not follow rules if they have to look after pets.

What do you do? I was wondering this earlier.

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 15/03/2020 14:36

A man I know who is self isolating queried this. He was told he could take his dog out as long as he stayed at least 2 metres away from anyone else

I think walking outside is fine as long as you keep a distance from each other, minimum of six feet.

RealLifeHotWaterBottle · 15/03/2020 14:37

Should add - it was an NHS doctor who advised that

TheHarryFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 15/03/2020 14:38

I understand that we’re allowed to walk dogs outside as long as we stay 2m away from people. I also think we’re allowed to go to the shop?

GoldenKirst · 15/03/2020 14:38

Dogs still need to be walked... & it's not like you come across many people while out with the dog anyway (or I don't). My dog won't go to the toilet in the garden so has to be walked, luckily though we are not self isolating or anything but even if we were I'd still walk the dog

PestyMachtubernahme · 15/03/2020 14:42

Remember, if you are really ill, you won't be able to walk your dog. I was sick last week (classic corona symptoms) and had no option other than get someone else to do it.

If you have a dog, make plans:
What happens if you are very unwell.
What happens if you have to go to hospital.

Everyexitisanentrance · 15/03/2020 14:42

I can imagine the groups of dog owners screeching at each in our local

I saw something the other day saying if you're in self isolation then so long as you stay 2 meter away from people and the dogs on the lead then you walk the dog.

If you have the virus then friends and family should walk them instead and wipe down lead etc before using. Otherwise they can only go in the garden

SapphireSalute · 15/03/2020 18:34

not 'allowed'....'rules'....no,its just guidelines at this stage

our pup will be walked if we are able. if not, we have a garden for him. we are lucky and live on the edge of a country park where we don't see many people
