Self isolating 2 year old

Had to call 111 as he had a major fever and has a slight cough. Thankfully fever has come down with meds but now have to isolate for 7 days. My hubby is likely going to isolate too although its unclear if the whole family has to. ?
Also I have a 3 week old. Recovering from a c section. My mum stayed all last week so probably has germs now too. Shes meant to be coming back today to help me put in the week as we are all exhausted and I can't do much. She says she might as well isolate with us. I'm confused as to what to do?? We do need help as last night we were so exhausted we couldn't hold baby as we were nodding off! Feeling rather helpless and confused what would you do?

Depends on your mum's age and health. If under 50 and fit and well I'd take her up on the offer. Otherwise you and dh should muddle through I would say.

I’ve posted this on another thread but info is info....

We’re isolating our 2 year old because she has a cough. We phoned 111 to check guidance on the rest of the (asymptomatic) family and they made it clear that we don’t need to isolate anyone else even though we obviously can’t stay 2m away from the baby at all times! It doesn’t make a lot of sense but thems the rules. If your family can all isolate together, I’d say go for it.
