DH attending a conference
Mashedpotatobutty · 15/03/2020 13:16
So DH is going to a 3 day conference/convention. I really don’t want him to but he’s ignoring me. There’ll be between 1000 & 2000 people there. We have 2 DC and I fear that they will get it from him, then when schools close we may rely on my parents for childcare and on it goes. I have elderly grandparents who I am having severe anxiety about catching Coronavirus and being part of the group of ‘loved ones lost before their time’.
How would you handle this? Should I make him self isolate on his return although I doubt he’d do this. I’m tempted to put him in my youngest bedroom for a week when he returns.

Tomorrow. No signs of it being cancelled. He’s heading there tonight

Where is this event even being held anymore?
I'm on the corporate conferences carousel and pretty much everything has been cancelled - and what hasn't been, we are no longer permitted to attend due to my employer, sensibly, having decided it's the responsible thing to do.
On the upside: parts of the so-called public will be able to see my stunningly decorated spare bedroom soon. A.k.a. the only room I have with a plain white wall and hence my designated space for video calling into virtual events with people who have no business seeing the inside of my place.
Anyway, tell your DH he's being a big dumbo and should stay at home. All the corporate hot shots are doing the "new cool" thing and staying away from events - and that's literally from Singapore to Canada and everything in between.

I'm pretty surprised this is going ahead. I don't know of any events in either my or DH's field anymore.
Anyway DH is being a prat going.
