Corona virus fantasy

Zerofucks1 · 15/03/2020 12:50

Does anyone else have a fantasy about catching the virus? In all seriousness I don’t want to catch it if I can help it. I just have a fantasy of hibernating for 2 weeks in the spare room only leaving to shower and eat, just full relaxation. All while listening into the carnage DDs are causing downstairs while DP actually has to parent😂🙈 I’m talking about him fully taking my role watching the kids, the dog, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, bathing, everything! I keep finding myself zoning into this fantasy! Am I crazy or does anyone else share this fantasy?

Same...

greathat · 15/03/2020 12:52

From first hand accounts it won't be very relaxing. You'll be exhausted and hanging on to the loo as your coughing so hard you're going to throw up...

opticaldelusion · 15/03/2020 12:54

You're going to be in lockdown sooner or later whether you're unwell or not. Be careful what you wish for... My BIL in Spain and friends in Austria are not allowed to leave the house. Heave fines if you do. Indefinite curfew.

opticaldelusion · 15/03/2020 12:54

*heavy

YeOldeTrout · 15/03/2020 12:55

No that but... I would like to find a bad taste online forum to discuss which sleb will demise from it. I expect MN to delete this msg for me even pondering that. Pistonheads, maybe? I'm not hoping for anyone's demise, just wanting a mental map of the expected change.

My current prediction (70%) is that neither I nor anyone in my household will get it. I will personally know maybe 3 people who get it (in whole world).

Lefkosia · 15/03/2020 12:55

Maybe day dream about how you'll sort your useless DP out instead so you dont feel that way

22Giraffes · 15/03/2020 12:55

I would feel awful being locked away from my family and not being able to care for my kids. I would worry about them catching the virus from me and how they are all coping. It's a YABU from me.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 15/03/2020 12:58

I am coughing with what I think is a cold but as a single mum worrying how I'm going to manage things this week. The kids are old enough to take themselves to school but it's all the other stuff that I usually do.

Piccalino3 · 15/03/2020 13:03

I had dreamed about being in self isolation (only as a precaution) in the Premier Inn with the baby while my husband looks after the 3 and 6 year old. What is more likely to happen is that I'll get ill at the same time as my husband and I'll be trying to look after the kids and keep some semblance of life for them. My husband is starting to work from home tomorrow for 2 weeks and then is jobless. I'm absolutely dreading it! Think the divorce rate will rocket after this is over!

Permenantlyexhaustedpidgeon · 15/03/2020 13:06

I think this is one of those scenarios where the reality will be totally different from the fantasy! 2 weeks watching Netflix and having an excuse not to leave the house sounds amazing..... the reality of having no money coming in and needing to entertain my 7 year old whilst feeling crap isn’t quite as enticing though!

halcyondays · 15/03/2020 13:07

Yabu, nothing relaxing if you’re lying in bed feeling very ill and weak and even getting up to go to the loo is a huge effort.

And if you do get it you shouldn’t be coming out to eat, stay in your room.

easyandy101 · 15/03/2020 13:08

Careful what you wish for

icecreamscoops · 15/03/2020 13:10

My coronavirus fantasy is that it just disappears!

Thisvirusisawful · 15/03/2020 13:10

Can't think of anything worse tbh, I'm a really outdoor person and not mad on telly so no awful...

Thisvirusisawful · 15/03/2020 13:11

My coronavirus fantasy is that it just disappears! Mine too, it's like a bad dream...

LuckyAmy1986 · 15/03/2020 13:14

Why don’t you tell him you need him to do more in general virus or not?

Skeeter2020 · 15/03/2020 13:15

Such an idiotic thing to write

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 15/03/2020 13:32

I don't fantasise about catching something that has a high probability of making me seriously ill or killing me, to get my DH to pull his weight and/or give me a break, no.

I think I'd be a bit fucking stupid to do that.

And don't give us oh but lighthearted when people are seriously ill and dying all over the world Hmm

For fucks sake.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 15/03/2020 13:37

Perhaps think of it like this.

"Does anyone else have a fantasy about catching pneumonia/Ebola/cancer etc? In all seriousness I don’t want to catch it if I can help it. I just have a fantasy of hibernating for 2 weeks in the spare room only leaving to shower and eat, just full relaxation. All while listening into the carnage DDs are causing downstairs while DP actually has to parent😂🙈 I’m talking about him fully taking my role watching the kids, the dog, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, bathing, everything! I keep finding myself zoning into this fantasy! Am I crazy or does anyone else share this fantasy?"

If your DH is a knob who doesn't pull his weight, address it. Does he know you are fantasising about being seriously ill so you can make him "actually parent"? If he is not pulling his weight and you need a break (and there is nothing wrong with that!) take steps to ensure you get one. God forbid, you did have an accident or illness that landed you in hospital tomorrow, would he manage? If you don't think so, address it now.

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 15/03/2020 13:47

Stupid thing to write

Childhoodbooks · 15/03/2020 13:57

No, I'm assuming this is lighthearted? But no, I definitely don't have a fantasy about catching a potentially serious illness.

I would hate to be taken to bed unwell, dh having to cope on his own (he's not generally a lazy git), not being able to be with the dc, feeling terrible, not being able to do ordinary things.

I dread the schools closing, it would set my dc back.

I do have fantasies about having a week in bed, with chocolate and all the films and box sets I could dream of. But not like this, not ill, it would be terrible.

eggstrordinaire · 15/03/2020 14:42

I would quite like a corona party when it is over but that feels like bad taste. It does make you appreciate our freedoms.
