To work from home...

I work for a large employer in a buisness that's going to be considered as essential even if country was to go into a lockdown- think power generation/fuels etc.
My role is non essential to operations though. I know as my employer made preparations and gave all of us categories before last Thursday in case UK government advised working from home.

As the advice didn't happen one of the senior managers told me they only care about the buisness operating, are not used to people working from home and will not do anything unless goverment tells them to. He thinks we should all get the virus and just get over it.
I'm now thinking about telling them on Monday I have a cough and won't be working from the office.
It's a big air conditioned open plan office.

I'm just thinking that if they don't care about health of people that work for them, I should prioritise accordingly and put my health and family first myself.

AIBU?

Tell them you've been told to isolate.

Do you actually have a cough? If not, I'd say you should go in tbh

If everyone lies to their employers and self isolates unnecessarily then it's going to hurt the economy more than this virus is already doing. Are you in an at risk group? Has your office had any cases?

How would you feel if front line employees did this...so there'd be no nurses/police officers/supermarket employees etc. I'm sure you'd complain then!
