If you’re not personally self isolating then this would be a waste of time. The U.K. is basically advising people to go on as usual despite the rapidly spreading virus so you’re just as much at risk from going out and about in public and coming into contact with other British people as you are seeing someone who has been to Spain. Even if you think there are no cases in your area there probably are as the government is apparently only testing the most severe cases and so if anyone around you has a mild case you probably won’t even know about it. If you’re personally self isolating and keeping your daughter off school then yes, by all means keep you MIL away - self isolating means NO visitors. But if you’re not then I really wouldn’t bother. It is pointless taking one minuscule precaution like keeping you MIL away if you’re not also self-isolating and staying away from others.

And for what it’s worth, your daughter will be fine. Kids get VERY mild cases of the virus in the unlikely event that they catch it at all.
