Scheme for owners of empty holiday homes to let people at risk self quarantine there

Wouldn’t it be good if second home owners with an empty property offered them to people in need?
We have someone in our household on lockdown and are coping -just- but it’s only been 4 days and we have a suitable attic floor.
But for others it must be a nightmare.
I don’t have a holiday home but I think if I did I would offer it out to other people to keep them safe.

How about you offer to hire one of those holiday homes out for someone in quarantine?

Amazing the number of threads on here today featuring being free and easy with everyone else's property and money.

Actually Mauruce I have been offering the resources I have to others in greater need. I’ve offered to do shopping for those looking after my DM, I’ve offered free childcare to someone who is in front line work and I’ve given a garage freezer to a friend who is asthmatic. What have you done today?

Oh, seeing as that the day started half an hour ago, it hasn't included being free and easy with other peoples' money, property or time. And again, why not make good on your suggestion and properly pay rent on a holiday let and then offer it to a person in quarantine, perhaps the owner is using the income to pay care home fees for an elderly relative.

@Rinsefirst

I think the issue would be finding voluntary participants. Then the logistics of finding the right person to be quarantined there. Then travelling there would be an issue. I'm sure there are also all kinds of insurance issues and things that I know nothing about. I think unless the government force the issue somewhat (which I doubt they will) and wave some of the red tape (as well as protecting people for loss of earnings) things like this just wont happen. At least not on a bigger scale, although of course there are some who will do this out of the goodness of their hearts (or to be seen as a hero on social media hero, either way I'd rather people do the right thing for the wrong reason IYSWIM)
