Wanna hear what I'm "stockpiling"

I'm planning ahead have the usual extra bag of pasta ect but I've started to get extra things that will help keep DC entertained if needs be. Stuff like making sure I have enough colouring books, crafty things even got a water play table I was planning on buying when the weather got warmer.

Any other ideas? DC are 2 and 10

Hang on to packaging and buy some glue. There are some fantastic ‘Blue Peter on steroids’ activities on 5 minute crafts on Facebook.

You can download and print colouring pages, or get the older to draw ones for the younger.

Something my 5yo liked (still does now he's 8) is a treasure hunt of pictures: cut up 8 bits of paper (fold and refold an A4 sheet), draw a rough but easily identifiable picture of something, eg toy box. Draw another picture of, say, child's pillow, then put that in the toy box. Under the pillow, put a picture of a shoe; in the shoe a picture of favourite teddy. And do it goes for 8 pictures. In the last place to look out a chocolate button, or whatever you like. I used to leave love hearts and sweet messages. Took 5 minutes to prepare, 5 minutes of running around the house. The 10yo could do them for you and small sibling.

Do lovely crafty things that you can give to relatives when "all this" (that which should not be named!) has passed, and you can get together with family again. Handprints, footprints, big roll sculptures etc Grin

You can all keep your pasta and bog roll.

I suspect I'm inadvertently stockpiling perishable goods. Placed an Ocado order earlier in the week, then managed to get some stuff in town so can remove it from the order. Except I can't, because the website is knackered.

If anyone needs bread, eggs or smoked salmon, just let know. And yes, I'm aware how middle class that sounds - but it makes a good sandwich. Fortunately I have wine, and a Majestic within walking distance, so if all else fails...

We were quite amused that our Waitrose had run out of quinoa and venison burgers (as well as the usual suspects). Stockpiling in Surrey is clearly quite selective!

APurpleSquirrel · 15/03/2020 00:22

I've bought Easter Eggs for us all - just in case!

anon2020202020 · 15/03/2020 01:15

Do you have Alexa? There are lots of things on there like Karaoke, quizzes and things.

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/03/2020 01:34

I know a few who've bought trampolines!

NoRoomInBed · 15/03/2020 08:30

Sadly no room for a trampoline. Got some of that crazy sand and some air drying clay though.

On my shopping list this week is bird seed... . Just stopping and watching the birds on the feeders is a few minutes of destressing.

I've done a Hobbycraft order.

Contemplating Reading Chest if we are having school closures.

Cat food and litter

I’ve also hidden a lot of ds’ toys. So I can bring them out again if I need to.

justilou1 · 15/03/2020 08:57

I bought cheese & coffee. Stuff the kids. There’s heaps of lasagne in the freezer.

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/03/2020 09:15

same as above. Cat food and treats, cat litter and art supplies (Asda had quite a bit heavily reduced). Easter eggs were bought a few weeks ago too, but that was only because it was payday. I'm also being extremely sensible with money, just in case. DH is self employed so could be off for few months due to nature of his job. If the country does go into quarantine (dislike the word lockdown) i will possibly be out of work for a while too. Any big purchases are on hold as is DH 50th birthday family trip.

mummagirl · 15/03/2020 09:18

My 50th is coming up soon....Happy to postpone for better times😍
