Things I wish I'd done before lockdown
LaChatte · 14/03/2020 22:44
I wish I'd been to the hardware store and stocked up on home improvement stuff to keep us busy for the next few weeks.
I'm in France and all the DIY places are now closed until further notice. Pasta and loo roll will be easy to get hold of, 2m planks of wood not so much.
Anyone else on lockdown wishing they'd done something before it was too late?
NomadNoMore · 14/03/2020 22:50
@LaChatte I'm in France too...I've already made six curtains, painted a glazed door and reupholstered a chair in the dodgy weather of the past few weeks. I've got loads of fabric left so it's cushion time! Apparently the weather is picking up tomorrow so at least I can do some gardening.
Rainbowqueeen · 14/03/2020 22:51
Same as you OP
Also got lots of books from the library and lots of cleaning products to do deep cleans
My kids are too old for crafts but I do plan to bring out the paint etc for when boredom strikes plus we have lots of scrap paper to play hang man etc.
indemMUND · 14/03/2020 22:57
Got laid. It's been a year already. That's something I'll regret
LaChatte · 14/03/2020 23:01
Bugger, meant to post this in the right topic, sorry.
Nameisthegame · 14/03/2020 23:14
I’m in Spain hardware store too I need a new lock for the front door as my key was stolen.
Nameisthegame · 14/03/2020 23:15
Do you think we will get free amazon prime? (Light hearted I’ve got Netflix)
screamer1 · 14/03/2020 23:19
@LaChatte literally going to b&q tomorrow for that very reason. Planning on doing a load of long overdue diy, if my small children allow it!
BriocheBriocheBrioche · 14/03/2020 23:22
Ha, my thoughts exactly. Wish I’d gone to Casto to get some paint for my kitchen!
Courage!
ViveLEntenteCordiale · 15/03/2020 00:43
I'm in France too.
Wishing I'd got my hair cut and coloured - things have been a bit tight recently so haven't been since January. Was going to call for a appointment next week
Wish I'd bought cat litter with my last delivery of cat food! Normally wait till it's on 3 for 2 at garden centre.
Wish I'd bought hand cream and lip balm from L'Occitane.
Wish I'd bought and sent my stepmum's birthday present.
Glad I got extra prescription meds though, just in case the pharmacies close suddenly.
StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 15/03/2020 00:47
Yep, here in the UK I am buying paint so I can do my hallway and skirting boards so I have something to do while at home. I'm also going to get a couple of bumper puzzle books.
Teddypops · 15/03/2020 07:13
We went to B&Q yesterday and stocked up on all sorts.
We can do the garden, clean patio and garden furniture, paint about 3 rooms that need doing.
We can clear out garage etc.
All as long as we are well obviously.
BillyAndTheSillies · 15/03/2020 07:17
I'm sending DH to ikea when it opens to get some Kallax units. Providing we are well enough we will do a major declutter if we go in to lockdown.
Well, as much of a lockdown as you can do whilst stuck in the house for weeks with a four year old and a five month old.
Seventyone72seventy3 · 15/03/2020 07:23
I wish I'd got some fabric to finish a quilt I've been making for 5 years!
Seventyone72seventy3 · 15/03/2020 07:24
I also wish I'd got stuck at my parents' house in the UK with the kids rather than in a flat.
Straycatstrut · 15/03/2020 07:52
I'm in England so no lockdown yet (I think it'll be from Friday). I'm stocking up this week on crafts and activity books for the kids. Got my youngest 5 new jigsaws (Paw patrol yay!). Will go out and buy some more next week. Got a pretty big (for me) online shop ordered for next Saturday from Tesco so we'll see how much arrives! (mainly quorn which I have none off!) and some new meals to make, going to try some Mexican. Going to cut the grass and do all the patches.
Can't decorate with little kids here. Single mum stuck at home with 2 kids and a puppy for god knows how long! It's going to be interesting!
Luckily we live right next to a huge open moorland so hopefully we'll still be able to take the poor dog out! (if we're all well that is).
LaChatte · 15/03/2020 08:35
I'd promised DD I'd try and trim her hair, knowing that if I messed it up then I could take her to the hairdresser. That's not going to happen (although I've seen adverts on my local FB page saying some hairdressers were doing hoisecalls).
17yo DS really wanted to go to Macdo, that's the only downside he can see. The idea of being self isolated in his room with his gaming computer and high speed internet for a few weeks is pretty much his idea of heaven.
LaChatte · 15/03/2020 12:46
Just realised I'm almost out of contact lenses, I can get them online but not sure about being reimbursed by my health insurance if not in shop.
