Travelling to the US, New Zealand, Singapore, India? Your travel insurance WILL NOT cover you!!

With travel bans already in place against U.K. residents wanting to travel to New Zealand, India, Oman, Poland (I think) and expected to be imposed by the US and Singapore, UK residents who already have holidays booked will be out of pocket and most won’t be covered by their travel insurance. Why? Because travel insurance offers protection if the destination is declared to be unsafe by the FCO but not if the foreign country equivalent of the FCO declares the U.K. and its residents to be unsafe. I’ve started a petition to ask the FCO to issue reciprocal travel advisory notices if a country bans U.K. residents from entering. If it does then travel insurance will cover the enforced cancellations of flights and hotels. The link to the petition is here: chng.it/85BcM797

Nobody should be traveling at this stage anyway

That’s not the point. I made my plans 10 months ago. I bought the best insurance policy out there thinking it would cover me if I was forced not to travel. Why should I lose out of ££ because of a loophole that is of the Government’s creation? They can fix it and insurance can then do what it’s supposed to do.
