would you:

meet a group of friends in a cafe
go to the hairdresser
go to dentist for check up
go to clubs and classes

In other words are you cancelling routine social stuff?

I am concerned as have two extended family members who may need me to support them.

I work in a school so unless/until they close, I'm likely to catch it.

I cancelled my hairdresser this week, and wouldn't go to dentist for routine things - mainly in case I'm incubating cv, not because I'm worried about catching it.

Still went into the city centre yesterday to do some shopping that's not essential but wouldn't want to go weeks/months without (eg a few clothes for 2yo who's in the middle of a growth spurt). It was quieter than normal but by no means deserted.

Last week I got an urgent dentist appointment because of tooth pain

This week I am in a European country with partial lockdown (schools, hairdressers, restaurants - shops still open) not actually sure if the dentist is open still but glad I went when I could!

NeverForgetYourDreams · 15/03/2020 04:32

I'm still doing everything but we are washing hands a lot more and not touching face when at the gym.

Topseyt · 15/03/2020 04:49

I don't really do any of the things listed in your OP anyway. I am something of a loner and not into social gatherings anyway.

When I do go out it is just for a walk on my own (we are fairly rural anyway) and to the supermarket. Other than that, I work largely from home anyway.

So I guess I am naturally a bit of a recluse so it isn't such a big adjustment for me.

The only thing really affected so far is that DH and I have not booked a holiday we want to go on because it is to Spain.

redandwhite1 · 15/03/2020 04:50

We told our son last week we'd go to the cinema this weekend - we didn't, we went for a long walk instead

I wouldn't go to a busy bar / club now, generally trying to only do essential stuff

MintySpud · 15/03/2020 04:52

I wouldn't go to a party at Michael Barrymore's.

I’m carrying on as normal. Went to cinema yesterday and might go shopping today. Businesses will struggle big time if people stop going. I’d rather support them while I can. Keep the economy going

KatherineJaneway · 15/03/2020 05:52

I've been at home mostly as I am on a few days off so taking the chance to rest and relax. I did go to Tesco yesterday to get some fresh veg but it was reasonably quiet and I used self service till. I work in London so commute in the Tube so, unless my work say work from home full time, I will be commuting as normal next week.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/03/2020 06:03

Not booking anything is the main one. Haven't booked the girls cricket for summer. Haven't made plans to go to London for Easter. Haven't booked any holiday activities.

Still doing swimming and Scouts.

redcarbluecar · 15/03/2020 06:07

I’m not doing anything differently yet (no symptoms or known contact with ill people), but I can see things escalating quite quickly in the next week or two.

KatherineJaneway · 15/03/2020 06:27

but I can see things escalating quite quickly in the next week or two.

I agree.

RoseAndRose · 15/03/2020 08:03

Of course it's going to escalate, and then the big measures where everyone has to distance themselves will come in

We could have bought ourselves a little more time before that, had we voluntarily distanced ourselves, but it's clear that people won't do that.

I'm people in other countries are watching us and wanting to shout out our squandering of the last chance to change the spread

No wonder that letter by behaviourists is all about imposing strict measures. They know that there isn't a chance enough people will comply without compulsion

managedmis I won't go to choir, then. It's for the best.
