As the subject says really. We are booked to go to Menorca first week of June. Half the holiday has been paid for, balance of the other half is due today. What would you do? We can't decide whether to cut our loses and accept we will not go and lose the half already paid, or hold out and pray we can go she pay the other half today. It's a few thousand.
Thanks in advance

Have you got insurance? Have you spoken to the holiday company to ask their advice?

lubeybooby · 14/03/2020 19:39

I wouldn't. June is the predicted peak

shalalala · 14/03/2020 19:43

@TooManySocks yes we have insurance but I'm not reliant on that. I can't see the entire holidaying population being able to reclaim compensation or the firms will go broke! Am sure there is a loophole somewhere and don't feel we would definitely get our money back sadly.
Health is priority of course but would be devastated not to go - first family holiday in years and we've been saving up

You have to pay it, you're liable. If the Foreign Office say don't travel it will
Be refunded

My dd is getting married in June. Is due to pay all suppliers next week.
It's a nightmare but she does have wedding insurance.

Peak is predicted May I thought.

Thanks all. Very tricky to know what to do. We'd be gutted if we can't go and it's a lot of money. But family health comes first of course
