Has anyone had any success with refunding of flights and hotels ? We've got insurance but it says we have to show that we are not going to be refunded. I've tried to contact them but understandably I've not had a response yet.

I think you need to give more information. Like where and when you were planning to travel.

Yes so for insurance we need evidence you’ve received no refund from your tour operator (or each individual booking) and then your payment provider so bank/cc provider/PayPal.

We were planning a Disney Florida trip at the end of this month. We booked via expedia for the resort and klm for the flights. I would re book but I can't confirm my annual leave dates yet. What do you mean by evidence I haven't received payment ? Sorry if I seem a bit dense but I've never had to navigate this type of thing before .

I should add its not a Disneyland resort. We were going to be staying nearby.

Flights booked separately?

Have KLM grounded? Unless they do, they will probably offer you a voucher or a free change. That's what most airlines who have grounded their flights are doing up to a certain date (flight dates)

It's the airline, not the insurance who will refund you if planes are grounded. Most insurers have that wee clause in tiny writing about no insurance payouts for epidemics and pandemics. But if the hotel refuses to have you, you may be OK.

I book a lot of separate flights for people and we are hanging fire at the moment because the airlines we use are offering vouchers/changes til 31/5. Our flights aren't until July.

What are KLM saying?

TheCanterburyWhales · 14/03/2020 20:15

Just checked and it looks like KLM are offering the same as everyone else, change your dates, change your flights, receive a voucher, but no refunds for "I've changed my mind"

Unless your flight is a flexible one which allows cancellation?

I looked at changing flights as soon as the UK was put on the banned list. Whilst there was no charge for changing, the flights were more expensive. The new flights are another £400 on top of what we've already paid. When I went looking on skyscanner the same flights were available at just over half what we would now be paying. We didn't get a flexible ticket. We haven't heard back from klm or the hotel yet. We were due to fly out from the UK on the 30th of this month, as the travel ban is for 30 days, I'm assuming the planes will be grounded. I'll check through the policy again to see if there's exemptions for pandemics. We hope to re book for October, but I'm not able to confirm my leave dates for another 3 or 4 weeks. I'm just a bit flummoxed by the whole thing.

I've just gone on the website again and it's now saying I have to contact them off line . Beginning to think I should have just taken the £400 hit but on top of the potential loss of £1000 for the hotel,! it was starting to get a bit painful.
