For as long as I can remember we've had Annual Multi-trip Travel insurance policy through my husband's work. We were due to go New York at Easter and had consoled myself that any costs of cancellation if FO recommended not to travel/ Trump shut borders would be covered by said policy. But we've just discovered DH (mistakenly) didn't renew this year - brilliant. Now trying to suss out if anything can be salvaged - any advice much appreciated.
Bought flights direct through Norwegian Air (£1700) and accommodation through Expedia at a non-refundable/ non-flexible rate (£2200).
Seems options would be:
- Shift trip to October half term (would cost additional £300 through airline) plus cost of re-booking hotel.
- Hope airline cancels flights in coming days - would the have to refund us in that case?
- Pursue refund through credit card the flights and hotel were booked with - Amex - ?
- Try and buy new insurance policy now that would pay out in event of not being allowed to travel in US early April (unlikely I think)
Wading through lots of small print on various sites - any MNetters with any insight/ advice? Thanks all
