How long until it all blows over?

People are panicking, shops are empty, doctors aren't taking appointments and people are staying indoors.

It's scary and serious. Just worried this is going to last months / years. I have never known a health scare like this in my lifetime but maybe others can remember something similar with any past pandemics? What's the answer, it's not going to go away on it's own Sad surely this can't go on for months/years, or can it?

I would guess it's going to go on for months, but not years. But I'm not a virus expert.

looked like beginning of autumn tailing off after a peak in june/early july on the graphic used in the press conference

6 months or so

My best friend is a supermarket manager they said it could go on for months if people keep panic buying .They said it is like a swarm of locusts descending on the store Sad.

Peaking in June, apparently

They want it to peak in the summer as more people will survive if that peak is in a time when NHS is less busy.

We might be lucky and get a brief autumn lull. But it won’t really slow until either a) over 60% ish of the population have had it or b) there is a vaccine
