Would you travel to Mexico next week?

I’ve said no. Friend has said yes.
Apparently only 12 confirmed cases (due to high Temp’s..?)
I’ve read a lot that is saying they are under reporting due to lack of testing...
4 families (potentially) going, with toddlers.

Just no. Accept life will change for the next 4-6mths. Mexico will still be there next year.

runninguphills · 15/03/2020 03:58

No chance!

TeaAndDarkToast · 15/03/2020 04:01

If your friend really cared about anyone other than themselves this thread would not exist...

This is natural selection at its finest.

If you’re self isolating as per govt advice would travel insurance cover a cancellation?

GADDay · 15/03/2020 04:49

No. I would not go to Mexico.

I am carefully considering when I need to leave the house. Not because I am scared of the virus but because I think we all have a responsibility to reduce transmission.
Healthcare services will be absolutely maxed out looking after vulnerable people.

Globetrotting and adding to the problem is at best selfish at worst totally ignorant of the risks it poses to the elderly, immuno-compromised, frontline staff who we need to keep hospitals, infrastructure and emergency services operating.

Stay at home. Please.

This is natural selection at its finest.

Not natural selection, as they’re probably young enough to survive this. However they may have a hand in the death of elderly and/or vulnerable people, if they bring it home and carry on as if their rights to not self isolate is more important than the risk to others.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/03/2020 04:56

I wouldn't be planning to travel anywhere for the next few months.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/03/2020 05:22

No. No way.

Almahart · 15/03/2020 06:44

I missed that there are toddlers in the mix.

You would be completely insane to go.

Cupcakegirl13 · 15/03/2020 06:51

No I wouldn’t go because we are fast becoming the epicentre and it’s selfish to take the virus to other countries that don’t have it in such large numbers.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/03/2020 10:05

^ Apparently only 12 confirmed cases

It's 26 now, 11 new cases confirmed today.^

And since last night it's now at 41, 15 new cases.

HoldMyLobster · 15/03/2020 12:23

Scenes in US airports last night as they brought in screening for incoming passengers. You think this won't happen in any other airports or countries?

People really think travelling is a good idea right now?

NamechangeMeH · 15/03/2020 14:19

Fwiw, I agree with all the comments saying not to travel. Thanks for input

OP posts:
BeuatifulHorrorStory · 15/03/2020 14:27

I wouldn't. For all you know Mexico may not let you in when you get there. And if they did, they might make you self isolate for 14 days and ruin your holiday.

And why fly from a high risk country to a lower risk one? It's just putting their citizens at risk too.

NanSlayer · 15/03/2020 14:30

If you want to escape the UK then YES, otherwise NO

VivaLeBeaver · 15/03/2020 14:32

Mexico has been full of Americans whenever I’ve been and iirc USA has quite the coronavirus problem. So Mexico must have it. So no, I wouldn’t.

But then I’m hoping not to leave my house for the next month anywhere, not even the corner shop.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/03/2020 14:33

But I appreciate it’s a lot of money to potentially lose.

NamechangeMeH · 15/03/2020 15:36

Almost £4K lost which is gutting but just unfortunate circumstances

OP posts:
themarkofthemaker · 15/03/2020 15:37

no.

madroid · 15/03/2020 15:40

Check with your holiday company/insurer. Apparently a lot of them are offering to move booking or giving vouchers to be used later.

Joebloggsss · 19/07/2020 17:57

@NamechangeMeH what happened with your holiday? Interested as I’ve been looking at Mexico today and it’s under review by the FCO on the 21 July!

safetosay · 19/07/2020 18:03

No

ohthegoats · 19/07/2020 18:28

No.

Smileyoriley · 19/07/2020 18:56

No chance. I wouldn’t dream of it.

Dadnotamum72 · 19/07/2020 19:18

Aren't they about to overtake us in the world rankings? Think it would be the last place I would go.
