Deposits paid for a week all inclusive in May half term to Turkey. The balance is due in a week (£1500).

Just my boyfriend and I going, daughter staying with her dad. We can't decide what to do, happy to lose the deposit (£120) but clearly not the £1500.

We want to go, we've been before and it's very clean. We're both early 50's and fit and well.

The decision could be taken out of our hands if FCO advise against, but can't decide what to do right now.

So what would you do wise MN's.

Have you got travel insurance yet?

I wouldn’t book it, but I am of the opinion that we all need to try and reduce travel etc at the moment.

OvaHere · 14/03/2020 10:26

I've been wondering the same thing and mine isn't until August. I think if I was going in May I would be more likely to cancel.

It's less concern about the actual virus and more about being stuck somewhere in a lockdown. I think the next two months, April and May are expected to be the peak of infections and therefore probably the strongest counter measures taking place.

PersonaNonGarter · 14/03/2020 10:29

Don’t book. Let the £120 go and save for a good holiday later in the year. The prices will be bargainous as the travel industry will be desperate to pick up. You will more than make up your £120.

HasaDigaEebowai · 14/03/2020 10:31

I wouldn't. I suspect there will be very little travel permitted by then.

zombieapocalypseisnigh · 14/03/2020 10:33

I'd lose the £120.

There will be other holidays to book over that week IF things improve, but if they don't, you'll be out a lot more.

I wouldn't pay. Highly likely to be travel restrictions in place.

Jet2 have cancelled all holidays to Spain, Canary Islands and Balearics with immediate effect.
