Just that really. I would Just like to know why. There are lots of threads about people finding it ridiculous and not being able to get their normal shop, we're being told there is no need so why have you done it? Can you explain your panic, fear? Especially since its not happening across the board with all food stuffs andjust certain items.
Why toilet roll and not washing up liquid, shower gel etc, why pasta but not pasta sauces c why beans but not tinned soup etc

There is a big movement now to encourage people to go to local shops rather than supermarkets. I love it tbh!

How is it selfish and entitled to get food in, so that self-isolation is possible? We are stuck in for 2 weeks. If I hadn’t been organised, it would be a struggle.

2 weeks of shopping on top of our normal shop, for 6 people, is an immense amount of food. Everyone doing this leads to food shortages on shelves, but this is inevitable.

It’s not panic, it’s preparation.

It's selfish because it means there is little left for the people that come after you, including those that can't afford it.

The definition of selfish is only thinking of yourself. How is it not selfish?

Its entirely understandable, especially for those that don't have a support network that they can rely on - but that doesn't make it not selfish.

I live in the middle of nowhere so I always have a good stockpile at this time of the year. I have just done a normal food shop each week since January. The only extra things I have added is chocolate, coffee and flour. And that is just an extra bag a week. We are currently self isolating so haven’t been to the supermarket for 9 days. I won’t be going for the next few weeks either.

But if I didn’t have a full food cupboard and freezer at home and I went to the supermarket now I would panic. Surely if we had the money and the shelves were bare you would get what you could. I’m not saying it’s the right thing at all but it must cause panic. We are all in this together but every single one of us would trample on someone else to feed our children. It’s human nature.

The sooner they bring rationing in the better. Everyone gets a fair share then and money won’t buy you more.

As I already said on other thread.
My family is in a country which is on full on lock down.

The shops have EVERYTHING. Everyone has EVERYTHING they need. Why? Because no one is shopping like a fucking idiot stocking up on 30 tins of tom, 15kg of chicken and other fucking ridiculous amounts of food. Freezers sold out in UK!

So fucking embarrassing. Seriously. Just stop. Let people who have nothing get the stuff they need. Let the shops stock up ffs. I always said general public is stupid, but this is just unbelievable. You are supposed to be developed first world country🙄
Let the vulnerable shop!

I agree. Just as this all kicked off I saw an almost decimated toilet roll aisle and was sorely tempted to buy a large pack but didn't. I just bought my usual amount but can't deny the urge was there to buy extra.

Doesn’t amazon deliver food too?
