Self isolating - note on the door?

My DS developed a cough this morning so we are now in self isolation. We've had an ongoing issue of cold callers ignoring signs saying no called callers so I have put a note on the door saying someone in the house is self isolating so no cold callers. I'm just a bit worried though that our delivery driver wont deliver to us in fear of catching the virus. I'm really relying on this food shop. Has anyone else had a delivery while self isolating? Did they just leave it outside?

We had someone knock this morning before we put the note up so I think it's necessary. I had to shout out the window to get rid of them Angry

I would take down the note and just talk from an upstairs window

Why not write on the note “Delivery drivers please ring bell and leave on step”
??

Next time you order groceries, add delivery instructions to leave your shopping on the doorstep

mnthrowaway202020 · 13/03/2020 13:53

Also who are these cold callers? Can you complain to their company etc?

MumofTinies · 13/03/2020 13:54

I have done that, just worried it might put them off delivering to us. I should have written that they knock until you answer if they can hear someone in the house and of course it happened while I was on the loo. It's so annoying.

Oddly enough it's window companies most of the time, I live in an area where lots of houses still have wooden windows. Or window cleaners Hmm

waitrose has an info page saying if you are self isolating please call customer services and let them know where to safely leave your shopping

I don’t necessarily think they’ll be put off from delivering to you. I’m sure they’ve been briefed by their head office on corona, and how lots of people will be relying on online deliveries in this climate and advice on how to protect themselves etc. It’s probably safer for them to deliver goods outside than taking the goods inside if anything.

The bloody window companies need to wise up as they’re only putting their staff at risk with cold calls! A time and a place surely?

Only answer if you are expecting someone.

Opening the door long enough to say 'go away' isn't going to spread the virus far and wide.

Just spray a big red cross on the door

Exactly, I'm pretty sure everyone who wants to or who can afford to have their windows replaced have done by now. I complained once when one got arsey with me as I was closing the door. They didn't seem to give a shit though, it must be a tactic that works for them.

Yes the note did seem a bit 'plaguey' it just sends the kids a bit nuts when someone is at the door, they get exited thinking it's someone coming over or like this morning they thought DH was home (he's working away)

I work for Tesco. They have a stock of bags in all vans now so can leave on the doorstep. Contact your branch and tell them. Most supermarkets have a plan in place now.
