To go or not

2 DC. Ds3 and dd7mo. Due to go away on holiday tomorrow. Our destination has had 8 confirmed cases of coronavirus. I can't work out the best thing to do. Partner says we should still go and enjoy the holiday but my main concern is getting there and if any of us do get it we could be stuck there for a few weeks with one or maybe more of us being poorly. Can people answer if they would or wouldnt go please. I'm really at a loss what to do. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't go but others might. You couldn't give me a holiday for free right now. I wouldn't take it.

Blondewolf · 13/03/2020 12:06

I probably wouldn't. There's the risk of airports and airplane as well.

It really depends where the cases are and where you will be. Turkey?

Blondewolf · 13/03/2020 12:07

I v much doubt I'd go in a hotel

Minesacider · 13/03/2020 12:07

I wouldn't go at this point. I want to be close to home just now, things are too unpredictable for me.

Cherrypie098 · 13/03/2020 12:08

What is the destination? (Is it 8 confirmed cases for a country, or for a small town?) How would you be travelling?

HasaDigaEebowai · 13/03/2020 12:09

No definitely not. This is a rapidly changing situation and you could get quarantined. It would be hell with small children

Poppydaisies · 13/03/2020 12:18

I would definitely NOT go abroad now!

This pandemic is only at the start and you may end up quarantined on holiday, flights might be cancelled etc. Or worse you might become sick abroad.

Poppydaisies · 13/03/2020 12:19

Especially not with a 7 month old!

Poppydaisies · 13/03/2020 12:20

Our school have cancelled ALL trips abroad for the next month.

Wannabangbang · 13/03/2020 12:25

Nope it isn't worth putting your children at risk and there could be a chance you aren't allowed back. Especially if Boris gets his arse into gear and finally stops people coming in and out of the uk

WYP2018 · 13/03/2020 12:29

Where are you going? I wouldn’t go somewhere that had medical facilities of a lower standard than here. If you go you must also be prepared to be quarantined, with a delayed return home.

Poppydaisies · 13/03/2020 12:30

Would the country with only 8 cases want you to holiday there and potentially spread the virus?!

HJWT · 13/03/2020 12:31

100% NO especially with a baby! What if you cant get home?

whatsonmymind · 13/03/2020 12:44

These are all my thoughts exactly. My partner thinks it will be fine and we will essentially be safer because how many more cases there are here compared to where we are going. We are going to the canary islands. Not overly sure on their hospitals and how good they are.

Grufallosfriends · 13/03/2020 15:01

I would definitely not fly anywhere now, especially not with a baby!

Don't think hospitals on Canaries are that great tbh.

crosspelican · 13/03/2020 15:05

If getting stranded there isn't a problem and you can take as many precautions as possible on the trip then maybe? You really have to do your own risk assessment here and not be swayed by strangers on the internet. The biggest risk really is getting stuck there.
