Toilet Roll Etiquette

Going away for the weekend to see relatives. Had a long discussion with them yesterday regarding Coronavirus but they still want us to go. I’m now packing and just went to do the bathroom stuff. Noticed the toilet roll and considered putting a roll in the case. We have plenty. The relatives are a couple with no children, so us turning up will use more, particularly as we all know children use way more than needed!
Have I finally lost the plot or is it a nice gesture?

Lovely gesture!

Thedogscollar · 13/03/2020 08:39

If I were your relatives I'd be thinking how lovely you were as there is hardly any loo paper to be had anywhere. You have not lost the plot you are being considerate and kind. Have a lovely weekend with your relatives.

CherryPavlova · 13/03/2020 08:49

AT worst it would make me smile.

Cacaca · 13/03/2020 08:50

I would think you’d lost the plot.

Reginabambina · 13/03/2020 08:51

You could bring it out as a joke and if they actually need it then even better!

MarieQueenofScots · 13/03/2020 08:52

I can't see anyone in a million years being anything other than grateful.

Very considerate gesture.

Daftodil · 13/03/2020 09:47

Stick a bow on it and tell them you've brought them a gift. 🎁 I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 13/03/2020 10:08

And don't forget …… use both sides!

pooopypants · 13/03/2020 10:18

Take it, but only if you fold the end over to a point, Mrs Hinch style

TantrumDoughnut · 13/03/2020 10:23

Really lovely and thoughtful of you Smile

Poutintrout · 13/03/2020 10:26

Seeing as this is the second week in a row that I've been unable to order toilet roll in my shopping I would be absolutely bowled over with the gift of loo roll.

I have instructed my husband to buy some loo roll whilst he has been away working in Sweden to stash in his suitcase. He has dutifully obliged and I can't wait for my special gift.

Emmelina · 13/03/2020 10:27

Lovely idea! You don’t want to leave them short.

RedTartanLass · 13/03/2020 10:29

For fuck sake there is a Coronavirus topic!!

USE IT!!

Witchlight · 13/03/2020 10:44

Coronavirus is going to touch on everything for the next year (at least) so do you want everything to go in one topic?

Who gave you a monitor badge? Is it enamel and shield shaped?

SuburbanFraggle · 13/03/2020 10:58

We've got a live one

Sabine123 · 13/03/2020 11:00

Really RedTartanLass do you need to swear on this thread. Buy a dictionary ! You totally bore me.

Alsohuman · 13/03/2020 11:00

We've got a live one

What a live loo roll? This I must see.

Nice gesture, OP, most people would appreciate that.

SuburbanFraggle · 13/03/2020 11:05

I meant a thread prefect

I personally didnt see this as a thread about coronavirus. I took it as the primary concern of op is that would her hosts be offended she took them toilet paper given its scarcer than hens teeth currently.

OP. Take the toilet paper with you. I know I would be more than happy if a guest rocked up with their own TP.

SuburbanFraggle · 13/03/2020 11:20

Toilet roll will be the new courting gift. So what are your intentions towards my daughter? How much toilet roll do you have?

Toilet roll is a rare and valuable prize. Take it and be hailed as the hero you are.

Emmelina · 13/03/2020 11:24

We’re a family of 5. My kids can easily belt through a 4 pack of loo roll in 2 days max when we’re all home. A 4 pack would do me and DH over a week pre-kids. So a week’s generous supply of loo roll gone in a day, during a “shortage” (due to Coronavirus, but that’s not what the subject is about). We take our own towels to in-laws even though they try to insist we use theirs, because we don’t want to land them with loads of washing! It’s common courtesy, I think.

GrannyBags · 13/03/2020 11:31

Sorry to offend @RedTartanLass. Please scroll by if the topic offends. My question was about the etiquette of taking a non standard gift. I don’t think it needs to be in the CV thread really.
Thanks to the rest for your replies. I’ll find a nice Christmassy bow for the loo roll and present it proudly.

Someone’s actually reported that? When did MN suddenly get so prudish?

madcatladyforever · 13/03/2020 15:03

Its a great idea, I rang every one of my local 6 supermarkets this morning and they don't have one single roll.
Amazon has a month long wait for toilet rolls and I am down to tissues and water right now.
No idea where to get any more from.
