Child with asthma

Would you keep a child with asthma off school from now? I’m very concerned for her well being and she has been admitted to hospital before for a cough which got out of control.

Child don’t seem to be effected as much with this virus as the over 60s. It’s being reported that they are looking into this as this may hold the key to prevention
Spanish flu in 1918-1920 was different in that it was a flu that hit young people not the older population

This is my exact concern, he’s been going to preschool all week, but am starting to think now maybe he should be at home due to so much uncertainty

How old is your child?
Mine is 13 but if he was very young then yes I wouldn't hesitate.

My eldest has asthma and he's still going in. When only keep him off school when he is actually genuinely ill.
PristineCondition · 13/03/2020 06:27

My 12yr old son is home. He has brittle asthma which the hospital are thinking is probably copd. He takes 3 inhalers, montelukast and has been on azythromycin for a long time. I'm not taking any chances with him, he has just finished a 7 day course of steroids which he takes usually twice a month.
NeverTwerkNaked · 13/03/2020 07:31
whether you do or don't keep them off school, other things to do are
- make sure they use preventer inhalers
- make sure they are taking vitamin D supplements and research is indicating this can help

Fruity I have the same issue.
It's the time of year for it.
If your able to keep her off, I would.
Our school has said they don't want any unwell children in, so I've asked them what they want us to do.
I'd much rather keep her at home. Well, all of us to stay at home.
