Confused by guidance

Just trying to get my head around the current guidance over the whole Coronavirus thing.

I've been off work for a fortnight with a viral upper-respiratory tract infection. (Bad cough, sore throat, high temp, chills etc). The viral infection was confirmed by my GP, but I was not offered any testing for Coronavirus as I haven't travelled abroad.

I'm now improving, and expect to return to work. I still have a cough though; this wouldn't normally keep me off, but under the current circumstances, should I stay at home until the cough goes completely? Guidance all seems to be about a 'new' cough, but I've had this since my viral infection started two weeks ago.

I work in a school, so working from home is not an option.

I would stay off at least another few days if I were you.

I'd say stay off for a week (from now) to be on the safe side. Especially as you work in a school.
