DD who is 14 was sent home from school this morning as she has a tempreture and was complaining of chest pains. When I collected her I was told she would not be allowed back in school for 7days. As the day went on her tempreture has increased even though she says she is cold and is shivering. I called 111 went through the questions and they said only if her temperature gets worse within the next 24 hours then I must take her to a&e.
Now my question is there is 8 off us at home. DD has been told to isolate for 7 days, fair enough. But what about the rest of us? We have 5 under 10. DD shares a room with 2 off them and the youngest aged 4 has come home from school coughing with a temp too. Should we all stay home or should I take the ones that are feeling okay in to school in the morning?

If it was me, I'd keep everyone at home

LooseleafTea · 12/03/2020 21:10

Did you ask 111? I don’t know but maybe a medic will know

Helenj1977 · 12/03/2020 21:11

I'd keep everyone home. Are they not testing her?

Sugarmirror · 12/03/2020 21:11

official advice is you don’t need to all stay off but make your own decision

HRH2020 · 12/03/2020 21:12

I'd all stay off for 7 days

When she says she is cold and shivering but has a high temp, that is a temperature. Wrapped up in pj’s and shivering, with a high temp and sweating.

The literal advice this evening following the cobra meeting is only the affected person needs to isolate - anyone not showing symptoms are to carry on as normal that may change but for now that's what we're being told to do

They won't test her unless she's still ill
Or worsening after 7 days xx

Thank you all. I shall call the younger DC's school in the morning and ask what they think is best just to be on the safe side.
