Dentist and smart meter installations

Pandamoore · 12/03/2020 18:15

Due someone to install the smart meter at the end of the month (not remotely interested but they kept pestering me). And just had a letter through to say I'm due my 6 month dentist checkup.

Don't want to cost anyone a wage but both are unnecessary contact as far as I'm concerned. I suppose the dentist would be wise now leather than changing farting toothache a month down the line and having to go then...

What do you guys think? Minimal risk? Or not worth it anyway?

I think my check up is due in April, and I was doubting wether to go too. I need to take Diazepam to go anyway as I'm agoraphobic. If I'm gonna die off in a few weeks/months, do I want the hassle of a dentist appointment just before?!
Sorry, can't give you any advice, just wanted you to know you are not alone.

Completely unrelated to Coronavirus but I had a smart meter out in and really regret it, it doesn’t work, as in they don’t send the info straight to the company and they are a pain to read. I’ve also read that not all companies use the same ones.

Don't get a smart meter. Too many horror stories.

Go to the dentist asap while they can still get masks.

pelirocco123 · 12/03/2020 22:06

This only makes sense if you are avoiding everyone ...
They of course have just the same risk coming into contact wirh you

Why are you going to die? I went to the dentist last week, Don't understand why anyone would cancel.

Why are you going to die?

I'm type 2 diabetic, asthmatic and have an underactive thyroid, that's not currently being medicated. I think if I catch the virus, it doesn't look good...

userxx · 13/03/2020 13:29

@73kittycat73 There was a diabetic guy on the news saying he's had a worse case of flu than the virus. All will be good.

I am a dentist and it is business as usual at the moment.
We are taking as many precautions as possible:
Asking about travel history and symptoms- do not come with cold/ cough/ fever!
Hand gel for all on arrival and leaving
Surgery cleaned within an inch of its life!
Door handles, pens, card machine etc cleaned all the time
Obviously loads of handwashing for all- I need shares in hand cream!
Usual PPE - I am doubling up so both mask and visor
I am giving patients a peroxyl mouthrinse pre treatment having read this article:
www.nature.com/articles/s41368-020-0075-9.pdf

Having said all this we probably won’t be able to work right through it. School closures and staff illness/ shortages will close us. In Italy only emergencies are being seen.
