BBC saying govt predict peak will be at the end of May. What does anyone think is going to happen about GCSEs?

They may well be delayed.
Or perhaps if they don’t happen at all, predicted grades may be accepted. Who knows?

Looks like my dd is doing another set of mocks next week which may be used as her gcse grades

Haggisfish · 16/03/2020 18:25

They absolutely won’t use mocks-too much opportunity for cheating. I think they will go ahead as normal with a catch up for people who are too ill.

EdithWeston · 16/03/2020 18:26

There is no way they can use mocks, as there is no standardisation between schools.

Loads more explanation, and possible other options:

One of the exam boards sent out some guidance earlier saying they won't have two phases since it takes too long to write the exams and they can't allow people to take them in phases. I think they will be put back to the end of the summer

Haggisfish · 16/03/2020 18:59

Yes or maybe the start of September.

TwelveIslands · 16/03/2020 19:04

I think that the schools will close sometime in the next couple of weeks and that they won't open till September and exams will happen sometime in the summer when the virus has reduced.
