What should we be stockpiling?

Seen the loo roll /pasta threads, but what SHOULD we be stockpiling? Do I need to batch cook and fill the freezer?

My freezer isn't big enough to stockpile anything. I shall take my chances in Tesco!

Try to have enough food for about two weeks so that you won't need to go out if you're in isolation or ill. So lots of pasta, rice, baked beans, frozen food etc etc

If you'd put a bit extra by when Brexit was looming a year ago then you would already be sorted but no, preppers like me were mocked. Unfortunately it's people realising at the last moment that having food in the house, and then panic buying, that is causing the shortages. I have several packets of pasta and loo rolls tucked away, and I can assure you that neither of them have contributed to shortages as I bought them back when the supply chains were functioning completely normally.

Make sure you have enough food and other supplies (e.g. shampoo) in for 2-3 weeks. Supermarket online delivery services simply don't have the capacity to start delivering everything to everyone. Plan some form of entertainment, especially if you have kids. If you have some DIY or similar that needs doing, go and get the materials now.

Whatever you would want to eat if you can't go out for two weeks plus any cleaning products and toiletries you'd need as well.

Washing powder as generally a lot more washing to do when illness is in the household so maybe get an extra pack.

BabyLlamaZem · 12/03/2020 14:54

Whatever you think you will need during 2 weeks of isolation. Or longer if you want to be isolating to stop getting ill also. I don't fancy going to the supermarket every week once we get as bad as Italy. I'm going to try and avoid the sickness as long as possible and I'm smart enough to know that you need to do a bit extra.

Supply chains are currently functioning normally, shoppers arent.
