Prepper guilt - anyone need some loo roll?!

Hello.

I have quite a lot of loo roll. Not LOADS, just more than I'd usually have, as many weeks ago I did some minor prepping. The news stories are now making me feel pretty bad about this (although to be honest, it predated the panic buying, so not sure what effect this has). Is it really now not possible to get this? Shall I give some away, and if so, where?

Food bank might be the best place to quietly get rid of some loo roll?

NotAWomxn · 12/03/2020 11:35

I'm not actually offering up loo roll on MN - more asking about whether there are any preppers thinking about giving their minor stashes away...

Ah yes, @strawberrylipgloss - good idea

@strawberrylipgloss that was a cross post - wasn't being rude to your helpful response! Grin

I'm going to keep my stash so that people can buy more as supply recovers and I don't have to compete with them for stock.

I'm on my local FB pages and if anyone posts needing some then I would share then.

bellinisurge · 12/03/2020 11:51

I'm an actual prepper. No sharing unless it's close family or I get something useful in return. Sorry. That's me.

Sux2buthen · 12/03/2020 11:58

It's ok, I'm a looter. Lock up your sheds! Grin

There seems to be plenty of loo roll around. Amazon appears to have quite a varied stock.

bellinisurge · 12/03/2020 12:17

Just had my normal delivery. Different bog roll to usual supplied but no other changes.

I think most people imagine everyone will hoard loads of stuff away while others suffer. I can't see that being the case all.

We have plenty of loo roll and cleaning products so if anyone I know is stuck - family, friends, neighbours - we will share it out. My neighbours have an allotment and have made it clear they will share with us if we need anything. A friend has chickens and shares her eggs out anyway as they produce a lot.

Lets all look after each other. Please check on elderly neighbours that might be worried about going out.

bellinisurge · 12/03/2020 12:47

I didn't say I would hoard my preps. I wouldn't say "come one come all ". It's better for community peace and mutual support to help each other, particularly older people who, frankly, have useful knowledge and skills if not the ability due to health to use them.
But some loud mouthed bastard who expects other people to do their prepping for them and brings nothing other than gobshite-ery can go whistle.

Loads of shops near me full of toilet roll. I have a stash in sense but that’s because I always just buy a new pack every week regardless.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 12/03/2020 12:54

It's only big supermarkets that seem to be sold out, they've got a good supply in the co-op and all the little shops I've been in, as well as places like The Range or B&M.

I think half of the panic is people treating big supermarket like they're the only place in the world that sells anything.

Fair do's hand sanitiser does seem to be pretty much out of stock everywhere though. Not that anyone really needs a dozen bottles, one small bottle lasts ages unless your bathing in it.

Maybe now is the time to get a loo roll subscription from WhoGivesACrap.... Help support developing countries at the same time.

And if anyone wants £5 off their first order PM me 😊
