Can I ask a really dim question...?

Watching the news on the BBC.

In Italy, restaurants are closing at 6 p.m.

Can anyone tell me why? I assume the virus is the same at 7 a.m. as it is at 7 p.m. What benefit is there to them closing restaurants at 6?

I think they meant that from 6pm tonight in Italy, all restaurants and other places - in fact every type of shop apart from supermarkets and chemists - are closed until further notice. I.e not reopening in the morning or at all for a while. Happy to be wrong though.

RhubarbTea is correct. The only shops that are allowed to open are now food shops and pharmacies.
