Is the self isolation sick period going to count in the Bradford score?

I’m just wondering if the self isolation will count against people in the work place. Will it be counted? Will it be up to each company? Thoughts?

YABA you think yes it will count
YANBA no you don’t think it will.

And what happens if you are told to self isolate then later are told again?

I’m really worried about the effect on a good sickness record.

There's been official guidance on this. Corona doesn't count to sickness score, nor does self isolation if advised by Public Health.

Northernwarrior · 12/03/2020 01:23

My work has said it won’t count.

Bluebird29 · 12/03/2020 14:25

Can someone signpost me towards the official guidance on this as my work are saying it counts.

YABU to be so concerned about a good sickness record. I used to think it was a good thing, but as I've got older have realised that everyone (almost) has periods of time in life where they are ill for some uncontrolled reason and no one should be judged on that.

I guess each company sets it's own rules but we have literally just had an email saying any time off due to CV even if you are just choosing to self isolate wont count towards Bradford scale. If you have to have time off cause schools close you wont get paid and you will only get SSP if you actually have the virus though Hmm

NoWayNoHow · 12/03/2020 14:35

Our organisation has created a different type of absence for staff who aren't sick but who have been instructed to stay away from work - it logs that they're not there, but doesn't affect absence or sick pay as it isn't sickness.

Bluebird29 · 12/03/2020 14:38

Sick pay is so little. I only get ssp, so have always gone into work except for anything that I might pass on. They insist it counts though if it’s coronavirus or self isolation.

I work for a small local company without a proper hr dept. Just the bloke who owns it and one admin.

And what happens if you have kids and the school closes? Is that treated as sickness? Just thinking aloud now.

It's up to the company @Bluebird

There is no regulation of the Bradford points system because it's just a method of calculating the rate and impact of absence.

They can do what they want with the score but they can't use it to negate your statutory rights, of course.

Bluebird29 · 12/03/2020 16:11

I was hoping Boris would make it law but looks like the lower paid are shafted again. I’ve got a mortgage to pay by myself, thankfully no kids to pay for but still I have bills. £94 a week won’t pay it. I used all my savings for the deposit not long ago.

@bluebird29, we've moved this over to our Coronavirus topic.
