Work not allowing self isolation

Will try and keep details brief

One of our young chaps parent have just returned from Italy. They've been advised to self isolate. My colleague didn't go with them, but they all live in the same house. GP has told him to self isolate along with parents.

Now he's come in 🙄 to tell his supervisor this. Supervisor had said he's not 'allowed' to go home. Now he's 18 so isn't going to kick up a stink.

Aren't we just going to see lots of this? Some, like my arsehole employers, aren't going to be understanding about people self isolating??? What then are your rights?

If he didn't go with them and they don't have symptoms then the guidance is not to self isolate despite what GP said. (I'm one too) He wouldn't have had time to catch it if they're just back. Also if he is self isolating how is he going in to work to speak to his boss?? The whole point is not to go out so you don't spread it.

Yes to the coming in in order to tell usher was going home to self isolate Hmm.
Dont know the details of this particular case, butwas more of a general query as to what happens if your workplace doesn't 'allow' you to self isolate??
