Self Iso issues

DH needs to self ISO but after his experience getting home is calling it all bollocks and a waste of time. He wants me and DD to stick to our areas (ie a room each) so he has the run of the house - the TV (god forbid he be without it) his office (in the dining area attached and open to the kitchen. He has been home for about 30 minutes - he hasn't yet thought about smoking but I know that is going to be the next "Humongous issue" and he will have another rant. I am really upset that he won't even take basic precautions to protect myself and DD - he thinks we should self isolate all together and include the dog, and DD not bother with school. I am angry that he can't understand how upset this is making me.

What can be done to make him see sense... I can see he has been using the hand gel I gave him but I think that was more to prevent him getting ill than any thought for us

This isn't an isolation issue, is it?

It's a bullying one.

Move out and decamp to a swanking hotel with his credit card for a fortnight. This is what I will do if DH comes down with Coronavirus. He just doesn’t understand the why so it will hopefully sink in when he has to deal with it on his own.

Eh? The person in isolation has to stay in one room and, if they use other rooms (bathroom) have to then thoroughly clean it afterwards etc. Is he going to disinfect all the rooms every day?

Littleshortcake · 10/03/2020 22:36

It's bullying yes.

Update is he has remained in the bedroom I wild give him more freedom but I know he will take a mile and he is slowly adjusting to the new regime. I ask if he wants anything and he says " freedom" in this sad little voice. We have had A Bit of a laugh through the door. He had

A shit journey home and has not been able to have his usual dog or person welcome and he is quite a softy for those. Don't worry I am robust with him and stand up to him as does dd14. With no consequences. God help us if he ever went inside!

Hopefully tomorrow we will have a more sensible discussion regarding working arrangements and the TV. He is work aholic but also a TVs addict... More true than we thought given his reactions! add did say to me later she laughed when she heard him strop about the TVs having to come with him . We only have one in the living room. I suppose we will have to train him on sky go Netflix and Amazon.

Your update sounds like you're making excuses for him or you really don't want any other posters calling him a bully. Well, both possibly.

A shit journey home and has not been able to have his usual dog or person welcome

Don't worry I am robust with him and stand up to him as does dd14. With no consequences

For some reason, both of these sentences sounded a bit unsettling to me. I hope all is as well as you're saying OP. Good luck with it all.

LightAsTheBreeze · 11/03/2020 05:48

Can't you just shove him in a room on his own and he just watch TV on an iPad or laptop.

RB68 · 11/03/2020 07:37

Light yes will be doing that.

Re bullying. He was having a bit of a strop. I completely understand when u get off a plane at Heathrow no checks and as he put it all told to self iso but 200 Italians head off in to the capital with clearly no intention to self iso. No offers of hotel etc as per news. He travelled by train home as no other option.

He isn't perfect, nor am I. But we work each other out. Once did at school he can have more freedom as I will be in my office which is more isolated. I just need to get him to not be in the kitchen touching everything and to disinfect his desk when he is done with work.
