I have 4 children. 11, 4, 2 and 1.
We haven’t been around anyone who we know has confirmed corona virus or even the symptoms. Nor have we or anyone we know been to a majorly effected area.
But through the evening last night my 1 year old started coughing and this morning my 4 year old has been burning up and has a really dry cough. My 1 year olds temperature is high too. Youngest at around 38.4coming down slightly with calpol to 37.8 but 4 year old is 38.9 and not coming down with calpol.

I called gp today and they had no apt’s at all. Tried calling 111 this afternoon but was waiting 20 minutes and my battery cut off.
Had both children asleep on me this evening but have Called 111 again and am now waiting. 35 minutes so far.

My father in law has text and said he thinks I should call again and choose the corona virus option. The 4 year olds nursery have had a few kids off last week with high temps so I had assumed that this was what it was.
I know children are only showing milder symptoms of corona virus when they have it though.

Is it possible that they could have it? Even though as far as we are aware they haven’t been around anyone who has it, nor has our area had any confirmed cases and we haven’t been out the area for 2 weeks.
Myself my husband and other 2 children all fine.

OP, when you ring 111 don’t select any of the options and it should put you straight through to an operator.

I didn’t mean sore throat in title I meant cough, no sore throat.

I haven’t chose an option, waiting on the normal line for 111 but I’m still waiting. 45 minutes and it’s still saying a 20 minute wait. Was 40 when I started.

Try the online service.

They'll call you back.

You shouldn't go to the GP if you think you might have it anyway.

Thank you. The online service is only for children over the age of 5.

I have got through. A clinician going to call back
