In 2018 there was a particularly bad flu season, the Guardian, here
reports that the "Death toll from virus hits 155, with 35 people dying last week alone"

www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/25/three-times-more-people-dying-from-flu-in-uk-than-last-winter

The figures from Public Health England show that what it says is the worst flu outbreak since 2010-11 is affecting fewer adults but leaving growing numbers of children unwell.

Did we ever hear anything about this?

168 more dead in Italy yesterday alone though agree deaths from flu are high and not noticed and in the UK numbers are currently low. But we are letting flights in from Italy no checks on them last night.

Well, we heard lots about the NHS Winter Crisis, which included the consequences of that outbreak. If you click on the link embedded in the page you are referring to [[https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/04/nhs-qa-why-is-nhs-under-most-intense-pressure-in-decades here], there's plenty of information.

Suppose that's the difference - it was given another name. And the numbers were undoubtedly down compared to what they would have been in the absence of vaccinations protecting large numbers of people.

So my perspective gained from that is we were very nearly fucked due to something we could and did reduce the incidence of through vaccination along with Tories being Tories and underfunding everything. Now we have underfunding and something that can't be vaccinated against at all.

Bugger, forgot the second square bracket.

Yes I have seen the other links, thanks.

Then why ask if 'we' heard anything about this, when your own source provides an easy means to see that yes, we did hear lots about it?
