I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

Nadine Dorris has tweeted that her 84 year old mother has tested positive but is doing well. Good news!

Roussette · 13/03/2020 22:32

I did read that NadineD carried on looking after her Mother and visiting her for 5 days after Nadine was diagnosed which, to me, seems a tad foolish.

A few links about looking after your mental health during the covid19 outbreak.

  1. Taking Care of Your Mental Health in the Face of Uncertainty
  1. mostly advice for MH if you need to self isolate - www.mind.org.uk/information-support/coronavirus-and-your-wellbeing/#collapsea9d23
  1. www.suffolkmind.org.uk/news/covid-19-virus-precautions-at-suffolk-mind-2/

some good general advice though aimed at anyone home working/self-isolating.

This is a very reassuring article on the BBC news website, under the Scotland section, where one of the first Scots diagnosed discusses his experience of the disease. He has recovered now and he experienced mild symptoms and wants to reassure people.

What does it feel like to have coronavirus? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-51876080

For anyone who isn’t at all “crafty”, which I am definitely not - useless at sewing, knitting, drawing, painting etc.

Check out colouring books by Millie Marotta - they’re really lovely, intricate without being difficult, and it’s amazing how a bit of colouring-in can completely focus your mind on nothing! I’ll take a couple of photos tomorrow of ones I’ve completed.

One of my people on Facebook yesterday commented that it was a death sentence getting it. I told her it was a very dangerous thing to say we shouldn't be saying things like that as we should be trying to keep ourselves calm and although older people with conditions are higher risks people have got over it. Saying it's a death sentence is very dangerous as it's saying there's no hope which is not true

The sentence scared me but I was proud of myself for saying what I think is important

I have been really really struggling today. I am supposed to go to London tomorrow to visit friends (just in their homes) and the anxiety is tipping me over. I have decided to be brave and go. It will do me good to see dear friends and I will take precautions. Friend is making a delicious curry too so will look forward to that.

Jeez health anxiety is tough in a bloody pandemic

purpleme12 · 14/03/2020 01:52

I'm not surprised I wouldn't particularly describe myself as an anxious person but I feel incredibly anxious about this all

It is very good to see friend it will probably make you feel better

Furries · 14/03/2020 01:56

@itsallaboutschmoo - love your user name! Hey, it’s normal to feel a bit worried. But it’s equally important to keep up with much loved friends. Am feeling a little jealous, I love a nice curry - please report back on how delicious it was to make us all jealous!

WaitWhatOh · 14/03/2020 02:04

Just been told if this thread and trying to read to stop the endless worry cycle in my head. My anxiety -which was pretty calm and in control until we suffered large storm damage, then I lost it - is starting to creep up and up.
I just want to keep everyone safe. I want my big kids home and to know we have all we need to be fine. I have no idea what we should or shouldn’t buy or what we will wish we had ‘mid crisis’
My DHs attitude is ‘we are all going to catch it no point in freaking out’ and not remotely helpful even if true.

HonestlyItsFine · 14/03/2020 02:16

There are some visual charts at this link which I found quite reassuring:
www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-cases/

In particular: serious and critical cases are showing a downward trend, which is very good news.

HeIenaDove · 14/03/2020 02:17

Seen videos tonight that really made me well up People singing from their balconies in Italy and Sicily Singing to each other, playing instruments , opera and even a DJ set.

Eebahgumlass · 14/03/2020 07:19

Morning everyone. Puppy day for me today. I have a couple of bits of positivity to share. This article someone shared on my LinkedIn feed about recoveries:
.
www-nbcnews-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1148126

The contact who shared it who is a medic said it was astounding how little recoveries are being reported.

Also, one of my connections who is a statistician who works in infectious disease in pharma said he is very supportive of the chief scientist and medical officer's actions. In his view they are being led by the science and, importantly are being adaptive so they can make informed decisions as new data become available. I found that reassuring.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/03/2020 07:44

Yes that is the thing we don't hear enough about the many recoveries do we, that does help.

StCharlotte · 14/03/2020 07:44

Got quite tiddly last night so unsurprisingly woke up with "The Fear" very early this morning. Gave up trying to get back to sleep so came down and put the radio on. I never thought I'd consider Tony Blackburn to be comforting!

Our dining room layout is very similar to my childhood dining room so I'm gazing out of the French windows and pretending to be seven again Grin

DH's Saturday plans have been cancelled so as suggested by pp's I thought we'd get out and drive to the coast for a blast of ozone but it's bloody raining again. Maybe tomorrow...

Have a good weekend everyone!

StCharlotte · 14/03/2020 07:46

And looking forward to puppy pictures!

Orangeblossom78 · 14/03/2020 07:48

The Scottish man's account is very reassuring. We had something like that after coming back from France at half term so wonder if we might have had it already. Both had the flu vaccine...

would be great if could get one of the new quick tests to see if have produced antibodies to see. wonder if that might be a possibility in future.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/03/2020 07:51

Eabagumlass that is reassuring to hear. Flowers

Jrobhatch29 · 14/03/2020 07:52
