AIBU to report lack of self isolation to school?

A family with 2 DDs in my DDs school returned from a short holiday Venice on Saturday. I have seen photos of them enjoying themselves in Venice on their social media accounts so know that they definitely went.

They have sent their DDs into school today rather than self isolate against the latest advice from the government. The parents' attitude is that we'll all be exposed at some point so there's no point self isolating!

Would I be unreasonable to phone the school and let them know or should I keep quiet? One of the DDs is in the same class as my eldest DDs.

Update: We've just had an email from school to say that pupils did arrive at school this morning who should have been in self-isolation. However, they were scooped up quickly and placed in the medical room and did not have contact with the school pupils. They were collected and will not be allowed to attend for the next 14 days and the medical room is being deep cleaned.

Any pupils who saw them yesterday or walked to school with them have also been told that they must self isolate too. I hope these people, if there are any, are honest and follow the guidelines despite the inconvenience it may cause.

Grrr, some people are so selfish...

I'm glad the school are sorting it.

I guess we're going to hear of a lot more selfish people like this in the coming months. I mean, people won't even follow the 48 hour guidelines for D&V, so there will always be idiots who don't think the rules apply to them.

sauvignonblancplz · 09/03/2020 13:15

I’m glad the school have sorted it.
If people were a bit more sensible and cautious.
14 days is not a long time and some people are more at risk than others.

FourTeaFallOut · 09/03/2020 13:20

Slow clap for idiot returning parents who have now, at best, inconvenienced other families and children in their exam year.

Clangus00 · 09/03/2020 13:20

Thank goodness.

BeetrootRocks · 09/03/2020 13:31

WTF is dry snitching? Different to moist or damp snitching?

Snitching I've heard of but that's hilarious Grin

Glad you told the school and that others had too.

confusedandtired99 · 09/03/2020 13:36

Tell the school.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 09/03/2020 13:44

Screw being a snitch...if it's all over social media you could do it anonymously as you could be one of many parents.

What absolute selfish twats. Stupidity like theirs will be what will kill some poor buggers over the coming months.

Jux · 09/03/2020 13:46

Post a link to the advice page on their FB, public - "Glad you had a good time, it looks fab, I am so [jealous]! You might want to checck this though Sad"

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 09/03/2020 13:46

I really hope people who call other snitches do so in low, grumbly, Phil Mitchell voice Grin

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 09/03/2020 13:51

Ahh, just read your update OP. That's good news.

The things is it's of course inevitable that many of us will get it through contact with a person who's unaware they have it. Unless you don't leave your home for the foreseeable future. What boils my piss are idiots who know full well they may have it and are going to carry on as normal.

Jux · 09/03/2020 13:59

Sorry, should have refreshed before posting.

At least everyone will know who brought it.....

FourTeaFallOut · 09/03/2020 14:00

Well, the fingers crossed numbers assumed by the government who are planning for a 20% spread, suggest it's not necessarily true that you would get it eventually outside of people being selfish idiots.

Of course, the more selfish idiots there are the more likely the 20% spread figure will be left for dust and become the 80% worst case scenario.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/03/2020 14:15

"Dry snitching" ffs are you 6?

Thank goodness somebody had the sense to contact the school. Good on the OP for thinking about it.

There will be plenty of accidental spreading of this virus, we dont need to add to it by being irresponsible.

Natsku · 09/03/2020 15:01

Glad the school were on top of it.

LolaSmiles · 09/03/2020 15:35

I mean, people won't even follow the 48 hour guidelines for D&V, so there will always be idiots who don't think the rules apply to them.
Tell me about it.
Then they pass it round the students, then staff get ill and some parents have the nerve to complain that staff have been off and their DC has a cover teacher (yes, that happened to me one year, and the complaint was from a parent who sent their child in looking whitey-green and they just managed to leave my classroom before vomiting).

L1appelDuVide · 09/03/2020 15:44

Well done that school!
I must say, if I was the parent of a child that spent time/walked to school with them I’d be spitting feathers. How to make friends and alienate people 101 right there.

Devlesko · 09/03/2020 16:09

It won't make any difference, kids are spreading it like wildfire, parents, gp's will get it Easter, when there will be a peak. Or the peak being summer, depending on who you believe, or any other number of reports being circulated.

FoxEars · 09/03/2020 16:25

Haven't read through the entire thread but what the fuck is " dry snitching"??

My child's health and the health of their peers / teachers take priority over the worry of informing the school and being deemed a " snitch"

Skittlesss · 09/03/2020 16:29

Snitches get stitches...
non-snitches get... coronavirus Halo

Devlesko · 09/03/2020 16:34

Can I ask if any of you think your kids are spreading it to others?
Are you sure you haven't got it? Do you think it will spread like wildfire during Easter?
It is a waste of time trying to contain it now, and that was never the intention.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 09/03/2020 16:54

Let's hope the person in charge of medical isn't immunocompromised. Having to wait within a few feet of said vectors of transmission until the entitled cunts parents schlep up doesn't do much for the nerves.

glueandstick · 09/03/2020 16:58

Utterly utterly selfish pricks. Talk about ‘fuck you im ok’

BrigidSt · 09/03/2020 17:02

GinDaddy writes dry snitching on EVERYTHING.

LolaSmiles · 09/03/2020 17:04

Can I ask if any of you think your kids are spreading it to others?
Are you sure you haven't got it?
Obviously nobody can be sure because it's infections and symptomless for a while.

I'm not sure what point you're making though because there's worlds away from "I have zero symptoms but haven't been to a high risk area so I shall go about my life as normal" and "I have been to a high risk area and actively choose to ignore the public health advice because I'm a selfish prick".
