Aibu.. to think I shouldn’t see my boyfriend because he has visited Milan ?

I am not usually a drama queen ... don’t understand the loo roll panic buying
Bf is a pilot. Last night he was in Milan. I had expected his flight to be cancelled. Apparently not.
He has 2 Milan nightstops on his roster this week , I was actually going to go with him for the second and got cover at work . I totally decided yesterday not to take the risk , some of my clients are elderly .

Aibu to tell him to stay away for 2 weeks ? We don’t live together , been together few months . Both have older dc not living at home .
I really don’t want not to see him, I love him to bits and already disappointed about cancelling my plans to go on trip with him

But the advice given is anybody travelling back from Lombardy region including Milan should self quarantine for 2 weeks isn’t it ? Why are airline sending crew there .

Bf thinks I am unreasonable. Says they had dinner at hotel and didn’t go out as nothing open

YANBU. Stay safe and keep everyone around you safe by not seeing him.

Sweak · 09/03/2020 09:13

Imagine how you would feel if something happened to your clients.

The chances I suppose are slim, but very real

It's just 14 days

Toothsil · 09/03/2020 09:13

I wouldn't risk it. It's so very contagious.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 09/03/2020 09:16

I think if you've decided not to take the risk of going to Milan, it would be pointless to then have contact with a person who has just... been to Milan.

That said, it sounds like the whole place is on lockdown so his overnights may be spent in his room. But you would not be U to not see him - and I am very chilled about this whole thing.

Why are airline sending crew there

If the airline is the one I think it might be then the only consolation I can offer is that they quite probably aren’t sending anyone to Milan and other cities in the effected area for the foreseeable future.

TBh crew members are getting so much carp over where they might have been (especially long haul crews) that some I know of are starting to get very economical about their travel arrangements with friends, neighbours, people at the school gates etc....

You might take consolation in the fact that your BF has been honest with you about his roster....

Well update
And thanks for replies
They have all been quarantined .. entire crew ... am fuming they were even sent as it was the same day the advice given by the government

So can’t see him anyway

He is going for the swab test tomorrow .... if it comes back negative is the 2 week quarantine lifted does anybody know .? Can’t find anything on sites to confirm either way

Good article that explains incubation times

TheTeenageYears · 10/03/2020 00:51

He could test negative now but still test positive at any point over the next 14 days. Not sure why they would bother to test now.

Tara200 · 10/03/2020 00:53

Thank you both for this

Hope he’s ok and that you can reschedule a trip with him somewhere else soon!

There's a topic for Coronavirus hysteria.

YABU to post this in AIBU.

There's a topic for Coronavirus hysteria

And there is a really useful function called "don't open threads that don't interest me".

Sigh.

IamaBluebird · 10/03/2020 07:29

To be fair there is hysteria and there is justifiable concern. I think the op has asked a valid question and had helpful replies.

Tara200 · 10/03/2020 09:40

Well that’s me told downtown and cologne 😃
