To drive to France

Dh and I have a long weekend skiing booked in France this weekend. He refuses to fly now which I understand, so I suggested driving there to reduce risk of infection. He’s still not happy.. very anxious about anything health related. We wouldn’t get refunded for the hotel which was v expensive but he doesn’t care. I know he’s rather leave it. Am I being selfish?

Driving to France rather than flying seems like a good compromise.

Thank you! Virus isn’t in this resort at the moment. I just feel mean making him go when he’s so anxious!

You shouldn't be making him do anything. WTF

PurpleMonkeyDishwasher86 · 09/03/2020 00:30

How would you feel if this was the other way around? He won't enjoy himself and will be on edge, so yes, you'd be very unreasonable to make him go.

Hi Op, we've moved this over to Coronavirus for you!

RubaDubMum89 · 09/03/2020 09:51

If he's not keen anymore could you take a friend instead?

Ibizafun · 09/03/2020 14:24

Thank you! He has a tendency to hysteria when it comes to health as it is, and I think this’ll push him over the edge.. guess we won’t be going.

I'd go alone or take a friend .

It is a very long drive for the weekend, kind of understand where he is coming from.

I'm off to Spain next week with the car, driving back through France.
If the ferries are still running.
Not totally certain my OH is coming with me .... those French rolls are a bigger to operate driving by yourself in a RH drive car

We're in France skiing right now. So far cases reported in La Balme de Sillingy (near Annecy) and the Maurienne valley. Not aware of anything anywhere else yet. Italy has just closed all their ski resorts so people from the Aosta valley may head over into Chamonix and surrounding areas- if you are driving though, you have flexibility. Lots of availability of hotels etc and have seen lift pass offers too which is unusual.

It was a going to be a very long weekend in Courchevel...5/6 days! I am sure we would be ok as we know people with a chalet there who have been going every weekend. I can’t make him though. Thanks all x
