Event in London at weekend

I have an event in London that I was planning to go to. It is in a theatre and involves it a meet and greet with a celebrity.

In light of everything I really don’t want to go. I wish so badly that they would just cancel it. People have asked the question online but no answer yet.

Would you go?

Yes, lots of us live in London - we are not all self isolating.
The put it in to perspective, at the moment about 51 Londoners have the virus, 8.5 million don’t

Yes, I would go. But you’re an adult, you Don’t need to rely on someone else to decide for you. If you don’t want to go, don’t go.

These sorts of comments are a bit obtuse. Clearly OP doesn't want to lose the money so would prefer if the event were cancelled.

I am in the same boat soon, going to a concert in London which truth be told I would not have chosen to go to (more laziness than not wanting to see the act) but the ticket was a present. I think it would have more than 1000 people so hopefully it will be cancelled and the donor will get their money back.

I’d go but I’m a Londoner and have to use the Tube anyway.

Pickledbrain1 · 08/03/2020 21:20

It’s more the meet and greet that’s bothering me. Hundreds of people in room queuing up to hug and have pic taken with a person!

Who would want to do that anyway? I really can’t see it going ahead of things get worse

I imagine they will cancel. Crazy to do it now.

AutumnRose1 · 08/03/2020 21:26

I’d imagine they’d change the meet and greet to having a chat and taking a selfie from not too close! Depends how much they need the money.

If it’s Andrew Scott, just go. Meeting him is totally worth it 😂

Pickledbrain1 · 09/03/2020 11:22

It’s just been cancelled. I’m pretty glad really.

That’s good to hear OP, are you able to share the venue? Be interested to know who is cancelling shows.
We have tickets for a show later this week at Queen Elizabeth hall Southbank, hoping they will cancel too!

Pickledbrain1 · 09/03/2020 11:30

Adelphi theatre in London.

Thanks OP! Adelphi have 1500 capacity (Queen Elizabeth hall just over 900) Wonder if they cancelled because someone got infected as haven’t heard of other london theatres cancelling.

AutumnRose1 · 09/03/2020 11:41

Have they cancelled the show as well as the meet and greet?

I’ve got theatre this weekend, I hope they don’t cancel. I hardly ever go.

Pickledbrain1 · 09/03/2020 11:48

The whole event is cancelled to be rescheduled later in year. The main pull of the event was the stars that were due to attend. And they have been told not to travel.

People not happy but most understand. Lots have booked hotel and trains so lost lots of money

Thanks OP, yes very unfortunate for those who have lost money with travel etc but hopefully they can reschedule those with the new date.
