Apologies if there is already one, can you signpost me.

Though it would be useful for all those on chemotherapy/transplant/immunosuppressants/anything or with children affected to have a thread. A lot of the questions I want to ask and my preparations would seem extreme to the outside world and laughed at and my questions were getting lost on the main threads.

I have been under other names since the first prepping threads, but NC regularly as I’m very identifiable if someone pieces it together.

I am the one affected and my DH is front line staff who will be exposed/expected to work more. We are moving him to the spare room now to limit contact and he’s changing his clothes on entering the house etc. It will suck.

We’re changing to delivery food shops as less interaction/they can leave on the doorstep. But what about things like ordering from Amazon? How long does the virus live on surfaces if someone infected packs it as Amazon likely has shit sick pay? If I order something and leave it inside the front door un opened for 3 days will that be okay? Or better to open and deal with straight away?

Or things like hello fresh/mindful chef? Should we stop using recipe boxes? We have now banned all visitors to the house and I’ll be unlikely to leave for the next few months. Medical appointments have been changed to phone where possible.

What about veg box deliveries? Better to order packaged from a supermarket? I am aware my environmental actions I’ve improved so far are going to be hard to keep up.

Hi Penguin someone has already started a thread for this, here it is:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3839196-Chronic-illness-immuno-suppressed-support-thread

It was buried deep into this topic so I'm not surprised you didn't see it!

I think the virus can live for 72 hours.

Food boxes - not sure but I'd probably stop getting them.

Would you consider getting surgical gloves?

DH is down to have a stem cell transplant and we have a lot of questions. Luckily his appointment is this week so we can ask the consultant. Although I'm worried about going to hospital. Confused

Do you have a garden or another open space where you can get fresh air?

AmIAPenguin · 08/03/2020 15:29

Ah thanks @cologne4711 Will head over there now.

@hopeishere everything crossed that it all goes okay for your DH. Yes, I am lucky enough to have a garden that I can sit in and not be within 6ft of the neighbours fence. I think I will need to make it a priority to make sure I do sit out there every day and I think maybe start some mindfulness again.
