Corona why don’t they?

So no doubt Corona could be a big thing in London, particularly because of the numbers and the mass transit systems. So aibu to wonder why they don’t manage the risk by putting hand sanitiser dispensers at the entrance and exit from rail and train stations. It’s not like they didn’t know it was coming.

They'd run out in 30 mins, 1million commute INTO London per day, around 10Mil live there...

wowfudge · 06/03/2020 22:08

It's anti-bacterial not anti-viral and rather than give people a false sense of security it's better if people take responsibility themselves for properly washing their hands.

Purplestorm83 · 06/03/2020 22:09

Hand sanitizer is not very effective against corona and it would lull people into a false sense of security (meaning they’d be less likely to wash their hands which actually is effective)

Marmit · 06/03/2020 22:10

Just imagine the administrative burden of this OP. Think just how much sanitiser you would need and how often it would be replaced, and then think about the bottleneck of people trying to use it. It honestly wouldn’t work at all.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 06/03/2020 22:10

Theyd be knicked. They're already knicking them from hospitals

TrainspottingWelsh · 06/03/2020 22:37

A really wacky idea I know, but perhaps people in London are also capable of washing their hands before they put them near their faces, and indeed are already doing so. You know in the same way you presumably think the rest of the country is doing.

YABU to put a corona post in AIBU

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 06/03/2020 22:40

IMAGINE the chaos if people did this at rush-hour at a bust station like Oxford Circus or Canary Wharf.

More people would die from the crush than the virus.

kiki22 · 06/03/2020 22:44

During the swine flu epidemic a colleague of mine slipped on sanitizer that had dripped out of a container in the entrance to our work fell and broke her leg (it was a marble floor so she went flying) she sued them and got a fair bit I could see things like that happening. Plus people can just follow advice to wash hands.

Stefoscope · 06/03/2020 22:45

A billboard with:
Mouth
Eyes
Nose
would pobably be more effective and easier to implement. i.e. if people don't touch mouth, eyes and nose when out and about and unwashed hands the risk of catching anything is reduced.

BMW6 · 06/03/2020 22:53

Within 10 minutes some fuckers would steal them and flog them for loadsa money.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 06/03/2020 22:56

morons are stealing sanitiser from hospital wards! How long do you think they would last in a station.

Sparklesocks · 06/03/2020 22:58

They’d be nicked, and even if they weren’t imagine how many thousands of pounds it would cost to have enough gel to last all day in busy stations where thousands of people pass through in a matter of hours. If they could even get the supplies in those numbers at the moment!

WhiteBadger · 06/03/2020 23:00

There is a Coronavirus Topic! Why are you posting in AIBU?

TheMustressMhor · 06/03/2020 23:00

Please start threads like this in the correct topic.

And hand-washing is going to save us far more than hand sanitizer will.

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/03/2020 23:02

Why couldn't you use the right topic?

wildcherries · 06/03/2020 23:04

I'm going to have to hide half the threads on the site at this rate. YABU for not posting in the correct topic for this.

WorriedAboutMom · 06/03/2020 23:14

It's a health and safety hazard. Commuters would congregate at the entrances and exits and London Underground focuses on keeping people moving.

Scrumbleton · 06/03/2020 23:15

Aibu to be pissed with the you’re opting in the wrong thread brigade
