Obviously not to replace medical advice!

Apart from our hand hygiene of course, I thought we may like a thread on any things that have been proven/ likely to help. Evidence a definite bonus!
Extra points to anyone who can explain cytokines and whether or not my trusted elderberry is a good or bad thing for prevention, and if it should be then stopped if we do get Covid?!
I’ve upped the Vit C and D.
Long walks in the fresh air!
Anyone else?

Zinc and magnesium

I’ve been having two cups of green tea with a whole squeezed lemon in every day. I’ve read lots about their amazing antiviral properties. Green tea is one of the most powerful antivirals in the world, as is lemon.

I’ve also bought Some ginger and plan to make something with it although not sure what yet! Maybe more tea. Ginger and garlic are also brilliant for fighting off viruses and boosting your immune system.

That’s my aim at the moment, I have type 1 diabetes so already have a lesser immune system. Rather than prevent myself from getting Coronavirus, I’m focussing I’m making sure my system is the strongest it can be to fight it

Lemon in water can be so bad for teeth enamel...

Justyouandme34 · 06/03/2020 22:45

I usually have one in morning and one before bed, meaning I brush my teeth right afterwards. But yes you are right as it’s acidic

I work in a GP surgery and one of our GP’s is advising to take vit c, zinc & vit d. I always take Sambucol gummies in the winter which have vit c & zinc in, and have started taking vit d (which most people are low on in winter anyway). Can’t hurt.

Powerful antivirals: (but please do your own research to avoid side effect/interactions)

Oregano oil; You only have to read up on this and read reviews to see how potent and effective this is.

Colloidal Silver; Was used as an antibiotic before antibiotics. Theres a lot of disinformation out there and scaremongering but again, the reviews all over the internet are testament so be your own judge. Can be used in a steam inhalation or taken orally, but check strength and quantities carefully.

Tea tree oil can be used in a steam inhalation, as can eucalyptus.

Elderberry is the most powerful form of vitamin C.

Thyme can be boiled in water with honey and drank.

Apple Cider Vinegar: the jury’s out on this one but I take daily.

Garlic: eat fresh to keep the anti viral compounds (or take garlic pearls)

Ginger: fresh, I squeeze in a garlic press and drink with honey and lemon.

Turmeric: can be drank in hot milk with honey.

Mother nature provides us with everything we need to protect ourselves and heal. This is not a full list, just a few I use regularly. Again please do your research before using.

@BrokenBrit given COVID19 can trigger a cytokine storm I’ve been wondering that myself. I read somewhere to keep the elderberry but leave out the echinacea. I’m not sure, I’m going to keep digging.

Worst thing you can do for teeth enamel is to brush right after a lemon and hot water, then you are literally brushing off your enamel. Wait at least half an hour. Drinking it through a straw helps minimise the amount coating teeth (Glass or metal straw) .
I am also wondering about immune boosters and cytokines. I have auto-immune thyroid disease so already an issue.

You realise that nothing other than hand washing has been found to likely work right?!
That’s the whole point. No one seems to know diddly about this virus and transmission. Elderberry and long walks in the sunshine don’t contribute one ounce if you don’t come into contact with people.
