Do I call 111?

Been feeling lurgy-ish for the past few days. Dry cough that's kept me awake for the past few nights, burning chest (sort of acid reflux-y but not and not going with antacids), sore throat, snotty, shivers and occasionally feeling like I have a fever but that's not all the time.

Work sent me home when I told them my face and head felt hot, as well as my lovely cough. No contact (as far as I know) with anyone that has or has had it, noone I know has been in isolation and I haven't travelled. The only vague link I have is that my boss came back from Japan a couple of weeks ago, and she's not been ill.

Do I carry on with the Lemsip and life as normal or call 111 and see what they say?

Have you taken your temperature?

picklebarrelfalls · 06/03/2020 16:44

Well I know a runny nose isn't a listed Coronavirus symptom.
Not sure what I'd do, hopefully someone else comes along that's more help than me!

JorisBonson · 06/03/2020 16:44

@BloomedAgain I have a brand new thermometer in my handbag ready to take when I get home!

@picklebarrelfalls I think I just have the lurgy but work have made me flap a little bit!

Same here! I have tried calling 111 and had no answer. Assume they are all clogged up with people like us!

LilyPond2 · 06/03/2020 16:47

I think they want people to go via the website before calling 111.

JorisBonson · 06/03/2020 16:48

Time, exactly, I don't want to be a burden if I don't need to be. I've got such conflicting thoughts on it - I do feel shit, but of course I'll feel shit if I have a bug.

I'm never like this about illness and am quite annoyed with myself for panicking

JorisBonson · 06/03/2020 16:49

Thanks @LilyPond2 I'll do that

Work did this to DH, he did get through to 111 in the end who said it sounded more like a chest infection than anything else, and got him a GP appointment. Chest is clear, but he's got flu they reckon. He's not been abroad or in any known contact so they weren't bothered to test him and work are now happy he can go back when he feels better. It's probably not helping the overstretched service at all for people's works to be panicking them

IHaveBrilloHair · 06/03/2020 16:57

I went to the Drs today with what I was sure was a chest infection and was correct, antibiotics and steroids.
I'm prone to them anyway as I have brittle asthma. Dr said no reason to worry overly about corona and she sees no reason to self isolate.
I'm only pissed off as I feel hideous and not well enough to see Lewis Capaldi tonight.

@JorisBonson I’ve been in contact with Chinese tourists, had all the same symptoms as you minus the snotty nose. The burning lungs are awful. GP said don’t go down to surgery in case it is Cv, 111 online only interested in direct links so haven’t even bothered calling.
GP basically said see how you go.
Unless it worsens I guess nothing we can do except self manage.

Btw a runny nose is seen, but only in a very low % of covid19 patients, its in a WHO report I read.

JorisBonson · 06/03/2020 17:12

@YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus I've just been through the self assessment and it said don't do anything so there you go.

I commute 3 hours a day from one end of London to the other, through a lot of tourist hotspots, and work in a building with over 1000 people. I just don't know what to do!

The lungs thing is horrible and I just don't know how to shake it.

Temp slightly up at 37.9 but not worryingly so.

@Joris all you can do is keep an eye on things and if they worsen drastically call 111 because even if you can’t be tested for COVID19 they’ll get you a doc if you need one.

Skierrdery · 06/03/2020 18:11

Just keep an eye on things and if you get worse, call111

JorisBonson · 07/03/2020 16:34

White spots on tonsils - panic over!

Skierrdery · 07/03/2020 16:35

You'll probably need antibiotics for that will you?

JorisBonson · 07/03/2020 16:37

@Skierrderry luckily I have a whole course of penicillin based antis here so I've started those today. I get tonsillitis quite a lot and was blindsided by bloody Coronavirus!
