Should I go to the theatre in London On Saturday?

Planning to travel into London by train and to take the tube with my DC

Should I or not? Tickets booked last year and are non-refundable so will lose the money is we don't go.

Really don't know whether to go or not? Would you?

Yes. I am.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/03/2020 18:15

Yes I would.

Sparklingbrook · 04/03/2020 18:16

Yes

maddy68 · 04/03/2020 18:18

Of course. ,I am not changing my plans

UntamedWisteria · 04/03/2020 18:19

It depends on the reason for going.

Ive just been on the train to London, travelled to a meeting on the tube & then back again by train.

Only saw one person wearing a face mask.

Trains were not crowded.

I'd probably avoid rush hour if you can, otherwise it should be fine.

cheezy · 04/03/2020 18:19

Yes of course

UntamedWisteria · 04/03/2020 18:20

Theatre will be fine. take usual hand washing precautions.

ChainsawBear · 04/03/2020 18:21

I would. I live in London, and like most of its several million residents I have shit to do, places to go,.and no intention of needlessly curtailing my life for months and months without actual advice to that end.

Well yes. I’m going to keep getting the tube twice a day in rush hour because that’s how I get to work and back. And while I could work from home, I hate it unless I have to.

Humina · 04/03/2020 18:27

My husband is taking our boys to see a play on London on Sunday. I'm in two minds about it, but he's currently commuting in and out every day anyway, so it's likely we'll all become infected anyway and we can't put all life on hold until absolutely necessary.

binkybea · 04/03/2020 18:27

Yes I went last Saturday 😊

IKEA888 · 04/03/2020 18:28

yes . chances are miniscule

Marlox · 04/03/2020 18:29

Im going this weekend. The only thing i will do is take some handgel for before eating.

SinglePringle · 04/03/2020 18:32

Today - in London - I got an overground train, underground train, went to the gym, shopped in the centre, shopped in my manor, went to the office, jumped on the bus, bought and ate food in a cafe and washed my hands and face at the office, gym and home.

Am drinking a large medicinal whiskey just in case any of those viral bastards got through!

purplerainred · 04/03/2020 18:36

Yes, the millions of people who live in London aren’t barricaded in their houses right now. Why wouldn’t you go?

dottiedodah · 04/03/2020 18:38

I think I would go.There must be millions of people commuting to London each day! Take hand gel an try to avoid touching your face .Enjoy yourselves and try not to worry unduly (not easy I know)

Tiredemma · 04/03/2020 18:40

I've just spent the day in london with my son watching a show. Only saw 4 people wearing masks. We even strolled through China town

boredorboard · 04/03/2020 18:42

Thanks for all the encouragement, you are right of course

However laughing at everyone saying about taking hand gel. Can't buy it locally or online. Will have to rely on handwashing and not touching our faces. Where is everyone getting their hand gel supplies?

OP posts:
purplerainred · 04/03/2020 18:45

@boredorboard there was about a 100 in a bucket at my local Tesco a few days ago. I bought two. When I came back the next day the rest where gone.

Hand washing is apparently more effective anyway. Wash your hands before you eat and avoid touching your face.

It wouldn’t be silly to bring some hand wash in a little container if you dont have gel just so you can wash up in public bathrooms.

LoafEater · 04/03/2020 18:46

Off to a show in the west end on Saturday and for a nice dinner in soho after - can’t wait! Might get coronavirus, might get caught up in a terrorist attack, might get run over. I’m certainly not staying home.

gamerwidow · 04/03/2020 18:46

Hope you enjoy your show @boredorboard.

Everyone should be carrying on as normal unless there is specific government guidance that they should self isolate. Hand washing with soap is better than hand gel. Take some with you in a plastic bag if you're worried the public washrooms might not have run out (often the case unfortunately).

AuntieMarys · 04/03/2020 18:46

Yes I'm off to a gig, theatre and cinema over next 5 days. Plus dinner out and drinks. And I have no hand sanitizer.
I like life on the edge .

Newgirls · 04/03/2020 18:48

Just wash your hands at restaurant/cafe etc I’m going!

Autumndaysarehereagain · 04/03/2020 18:51

All this talk of washing hands before eating- don't you do that already?!

AutumnRose1 · 04/03/2020 18:51

I’m a Londoner so no choices but also have theatre tickets next weekend. I’m going. I have asthma and an elderly mum, so pondered it, but decided to go.

If they updated us about every case of pneumonia or flu, it would feel a bit like this I think.
