How widely will they test the population ?

I've just been watching something on a news channel about suspicions that the number of cases in Italy is way, waay higher than the number of confirmed cases. Because so many people get it so mildly they might not realise.

So I was wondering if there was any program of testing the wider population, to see how many people have had it? I know this is a much lower priority than testing the symptomatic, but thought it might provide useful information about its spread

(And selfishly, DC had one hell of a cold which, with hindsight, matched the Covid symptoms too, and he shares a kitchen in student halls with 11 others including at least 3 international students who may have to their (now known to be risky) home countries over Xmas. I'd quite like to know if he's had it, as he came home for the weekend with it!)
